Akeil Hosein might just be a major "find" in this World Cup.I think he is a better bowler than Allen and now Bravo can get a chance at # 8 rather than # 9.He might not be as flashy a fielder as Allen but he is more than competent and took a spectacular catch in the CPL.
Fate can be an amazing thing.

Allen's injury may be a blessing in disguise

The Lord moves in mysterious ways. His wonders to behold

Foregone conclusion he is a better bowler but by no means a better T20 cricketer (what's needed now). With Russell's decline and he was already very iffy in WI colors mind you Allen was perhaps WI most important player in that 15. If Lewis fires, Hetty and Pooran play to potential then they become the more important.

For the record,
Allen being Injured is bad news in my book.
I do not care about the warm up matches...none of them.

I see your reasoning and yes we know Allen will struggle against spin but not all team have top class spinners

Losing Fabian Allen is a big blow to any team. Whether Akeal Hosein emerges on the international stage as a star or not, doesnt diminish the significant blow of losing a player of Allens ability.
Akeal Hosein is Fabian Allens cover for a reason. Hes likely a better bowler, but definitely not a better batsman or fielder.

I haven't looked at the other teams on WI group given we are playing in spinner helpful conditions. The question is whether Allen's batting would have mattered
But I do concur
I am just raising the arguments here guys.
Badree spoke of us being short of a high quality spinner. Hosein is a better spinner than Allen. Wouldn't his spin bring us more value given what we saw of him today?

Only Walsh will have impact in the world cup.... Akeal would be murdered... Allen will be dearly missed....an impact player like India's Jadeja..... would have bowled in the power play.... brilliant fielder....power hitter in the inning end....West Indies falling apart even before start of Super League.....

What about Fabian against spin. Jus a question

Dukes... !
Not sure what you mean by Hosein might a major 'find' in this tournament.
He's two years older than Allen; and they've both played ODI and T20i for W.I.
Did you check their stats...? Hosein has a 9.75 econ rate in T20i, as compared to Allen with 7.21.
There was a valid reason why one guy was a reserve and the other was in the Fifteen.
Its debatable who's the more effective T20I bowler.
I honestly think Hosein is too slow through the air for T20i ball.

Allen usually bats at 8 or 9......in almost every match 17-20 overs are bowled by Pacers ....there might be very few exceptions...death bowlers... spinners... can't remember....even in franchise leagues....
In reply to Dukes
How is he a better bowler than already proven Allen? Sounds like you happy that the man is injured. Allen has never had a horrible over like Hosein's first over.
Allen is always 3 for 1
bat
bowl
field
happy Akeal gets a chance tho...a better bowler than Fabs but not bat / fielder (tho Akeal can field)
Gentlemen,I will return to this topic at the end of the World Cup.

At the end of the WC or the WI run in the WC if they are not the same?
how can an injury to fabian Allen be a blessing in disguise? such an impact player with a three dimensional aspect to this team in this format? his fielding and catching alone could win you a game..
In reply to Raggs
Yuh dont know Dukes by now? Allens injury is a blessing in disguise for Hety .

Carlos Brathwaite wasn't suppose to be in the last WC but he ended up in the squad winning the final. Fletcher replaced Simmons and made an 83 that won us against Sri Lanka. Simmons came back for Fletcher and took us home in the semi finals.
You're on to something Duksie

As a 10 year old,I remember Guyana was playing Barbados at Bourda and on the morning of the match.,Steve Camacho pulled out due to some mystery illness. The selectors decided to replace him with Romain Etwaroo but he had left the night before and returned to Berbice and was about 3 hours away.Roy Fredericks was in Georgetown and played instead.Fredericks made a century in each innings and the rest is history.
