A statement that tells the public pretty much nothing...
The saga meanders on.

Remember Yorkshire's situation, re: racism?
In reply to Tryangle
No surprise there.
Azeem Rafiq also remains unimpressed:
Are you happy with being associated to a racist club?
Thanks to everyone supporting me - it keeps me going on some very dark days
BANTER? The hell?
Screw Yorkshire CC.
Looking forward to ECB growing a pair and laying the lumber on Yorkshire's nonsense.
In reply to Tryangle
no surprise there....totally ridiculous though
In reply to Tryangle
Michael Vaughan doesn't seem to have much to say about this.
Curious that.
Wish the T20 TV/Internet commentators would take a moment to discuss that as part of a "in related cricket news" bit, draw some attention to things.
Mo and rashid feel they are kings while their brother is being treated further like crap
In reply to Tryangle
Holding was the only one who really cared to discuss these issues when on-air. The rest could care less.
Where is the level of outrage dat was shown for someone choosing not to tek a knee?
As Sparrow said We like it so
In reply to Maispwi
Brilliant.
As mentioned on another thread outrage of convenience .
It is a disgraceful report. They have confirmed that the person was repeated called a "Paki" even though it clearly upset him and this term is used in a derogatory fashion. This was waved off but they accuse him of racism by using the term "Zimbo" for a player from Zimbabwe much as the terms Aussie or Kiwi are used. Honestly I have never heard the term Zimbo before, but they can determine that this was racist but Paki was not.
This is why there is a push to visibly demonstrate actions against racism and other forms of discrimination. For those so adamant against taking the knee or whatever action is adopted, I don't hear the alternative except pretending these things are not happening or ignoring them. We have seen how these actions lead to persons being persecuted or disadvantaged. While taking a knee doesn't automatically change that it does force everyone to reflect exactly why this action is deemed necessary and being taken.
They're starting to lose sponsors. Yesterday it was one of their kit sponsors (Anchor), today the company that has stadium naming rights (Emerald Publishing).
Yorkshire CC, deservedly under the gun now.
A financial boycott is the only action of any substance.
Daily Mail is revealing that Gary Ballance is the guy (as rumoured by others) on the other end of this saga
In reply to Tryangle
Never liked Ballance...now I see why.
Whatever the situation is with regard to the player, let's not lose sight of the fact that Yorkshire is under the gun.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Yorkshire go on the offensive and go with the "they're best buds" angle and suggest they had nothing to do with tolerating it for so long.
Ballance may get the knives in his direction right now but Yorkshire enabled it all.
In reply to Tryangle
sorry I didn't see your post re Balance
In reply to doosra
No worries - we can have separate threads, one for Ballance being nasty and one for Yorkshire enabling the behaviour
Also:
In the wake of the Ollie Robinson situation it was pretty clear that ECB would take this line.
In reply to Tryangle
Throw the book at Yorkshire!
In reply to Tryangle
Enjoyed listening to Nasser and Athers today
Nasser says ECB needs to step in
In reply to Tryangle
barred from hosting internationals
they should basically end up with no Balance (pun and no pun intended at the same time)
until the acknowledge this first of all, and take steps to fix whatever is fixable
Michael Vaughan gets implicated, immediately denies.
Yorkshire's chairman has resigned.
Nike has pulled their sponsorship.
It's all happening.
Between 1968 and 1992 Yorkshire wouldn't sign anyone born outside the County boundaries, I think Tendulkar was their first Asian player and that was until the 2000's despite Yorkshire having a relatively considerable Asian/ethnic minority population.
Once the team starts taking a knee the world will be in harmony once again.
In reply to WICFan
Speaking subject to correction but thought Richie Richardson might have been the first non Yorkshireman signed
In reply to armchair
Tendulkar signed in 1992, Richardson signed in 1993.
In reply to Tryangle
Vaughan told Rafiq there's too many of "you lot" at Yorkshire, and that something needs to be done about it. Corroborated by Rana, who heard the remark.
Damn racist!
Ramprakash was scathing in his criticism of Yorkshire on BBC Breakfast yesterday.
In reply to WICFan
I am corrected
Fo(yo)rkshire!!
Anyone heard from Boycott yet?
In reply to armchair
Whats wrong with terms Aussie or Kiwi.?...do not be a jackass. The "N" word and "Paki" is far worse abuse of people of the of African or Afro Caribbean descent and those from the Indian subcontinent.
In reply to Priapus
Boycott is staying hiding beneath the bed covers.Boycott was very upset when West Indian cricketers like Ambrose and Richards got the "Sir" title from the Queen before him.A pathetic funny little man he eventually got the title because ex PM Theresa May a Boycott cricket fan recommended him before she left office.Boycott's original comment when overlooked was..."I guess I need to blacken up me face to get the "Sir"!.He lost his temper on radio commentary. He later apologised for losing his temper on radio commentary.Ah yes...good oldfashioned white Yorkshire folks...a hot bed of racism and old British Empire bigotry. They never change. It never occured to Boycott he got overlooked originally because he got a conviction for violence in France for beating up a lady friend.Did you Geoffrey.
In reply to trev114
A second as yet unnamed cricketer has come out and said he suffered regular racist abuse at Yorkshire.
I wouldn't say I'm surprised but there's probably more stories out there that people haven't heard of, said Moeen, from Englands Dubai base ahead of Wednesdays T20 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.
In reply to Tryangle
The new chairman of Yorkshire is Lord Patel.
He's apologised to Rafiq, and agreed a financial settlement with him.
Rafiq was a brave man for what he did. Well done!
Joe Root, who's from Yorkshire, claims he didn't see any racism at Yorkshire.
In reply to mikesiva
alot of white folk never do
In reply to defeyeant
Adil Rashid has confirmed he heard Michael Vaughan question the number of players of Asian heritage in the Yorkshire side during an incident in 2009.
In a statement released to ESPNcricinfo Rashid not only confirmed Azeem Rafiq's recollections of the incident, but pledged to participate in any official investigation aimed at stamping out what he called the "cancer" of racism.
More here
In reply to mikesiva
The worlds biggest enemy of LGBTQ discrimination didnt hear racist discrimination.

Sir Root defends the establishment
In reply to Halliwell
You seet too!
Rafiq speaks to a parliamentary committee today.
Racist abuse of Maurice Chambers at Essex
He threw a banana and said: 'Climb for it, you f***ing monkey'
In reply to Halliwell
I think defeyeant said it best. Many of that particular hue are totally oblivious.

A thread of what transpired today (Nov 16)
Poignant in the Root discussion:
Rafiq: "It shows how normal [racism] was that even a good man like Joe doesn't remember it and wasn't affected by it."
But I encourage all to read through the entire twitter thread.
In reply to Tryangle
I just read through the Twitter thread...powerful!
For many of us who live in the UK, this will come as no surprise, however.
Tim Bresnan implicated.
Warwickshire CC speedily get their ducks in a row
In reply to Tryangle
Bresnan's "apology"
It's good to see it all coming out now...we all knew it was like this.
In reply to Tryangle
This whole thing is amusing to me....Like ...Yorkshire is racist?
In other news..water is wet
In reply to DIEHARD
In reply to DIEHARD
And so on...
Too bad we can't post graphics because that Khaby Lame meme would be more than appropriate.
In reply to DIEHARD
Indeed!
But what is amazing is how so many English peeps I speak to deny that Yorkshire is racist....
Tino Best has his say about Yorkshire
Ebony Rainford-Brent shows 'fan-mail'...
This is the outward stuff that's easy to showcase. The inner, more "subtle" stuff, that's what people are digging up.
Watch this now get used as a way of shutting down the Yorkshire deal.
Two wrongs definitely don't make a right, and the cockroaches still are scurrying.
In reply to Tryangle
It just shows dat things are never quite black or white. There are many shades of grey and we all have our own prejudices
In reply to Maispwi
I unfortunately heard to Brit comms on the radio feed of the FINAL bring it up and then made all sorts of excuses for him and had the gumption to say that its all settled now.
In reply to Maispwi
Absolutely.
Doesn't matter that Rafiq has/had his own character flaws, everybody and every institution needs to look within themselves and work on bettering things.
In reply to Tryangle
it looks like the tabloids / fox want to drag him
In reply to doosra
Well it's certainly red meat for the Rupert Murdoch brand of folks, I'd bet.
Is it disappointing? Absolutely. But as far as I'm concerned it doesn't diminish what happened to him, and more importantly how Yorkshire and other groups tolerate/encourage such activities over the years.
In reply to Tryangle
Rafiks transgression is merely a slip of the tongue. After all our Muslim friends just love and admire their Jewish neighbors.
