I will remember him as a promising test all rounder a decent odi performer and the first great t20 all rounder.

DITTO + an enthusiastic but uhhh not so promising singer. big grin The second part reminds of me as a wannabe musician ..but the diff is I never 'sang' a theme song for a winning worldcup team.
big grin

Seriously though..I also think he was a more than decent ODI player.

I will also remember him as top notch in the field...catches, stops and run outs.

Thank God for T20 cricket. He turned out to be one of the best there's been this far.

Mediocre test and ODI cricketer. Had itnot been his hommie Lara he wouldn't have lasted much in these formats.

A brilliant fielder

Apparently WI didn't get much from this leadership acumen. Seem has somethings to offer

Baje 2021-11-08 04:16:45

He gave it all when he walked onto the field. That aborted Indian tour was a black mark.

For walking out of the india tour. A T20 mercenary who conveniently made himself available for ICC tournaments.

Windiesfan78 2021-11-08 05:04:04

An excellent fielder and a cunning bowler who has the record for the most t20 wickets. The aborted tour was a shame because we could have won the series and it looked highly unprofessional. However, he made his mark over the years for the team and was one of the few leaders left from the senior players.

Trinidave 2021-11-08 11:12:31

A wonderful cricketer who brought a lot of joy to the sport. A great in T20 player. A good Test cricketer who never reached his full potential in that format, but whose foundation in Test showed up in his brilliance in T20.

100% agreed, the aborted tour of India a black mark and it will hang around. But gave it his all, all the time. And was an amazing (still is) T20 player.

Seemed to have never been one to give up too easily and pushed for the best in those around him.

Breds I find most of modern music unlistenable. So in that vein Bravo fits in well with this generation of musicians

Seechy 2021-11-08 23:27:34

He will be remembered as the first genuine all rounder to play all 3 formats and win 3 ICC trophies for the West Indies.

A valuable contributor in Tests and ODIs in the early part of his career, versatile with bat, ball, and in the field but tainted by the aborted India tour during his captaincy.

Remembered for finding his niche in the second half of his career as a death bowling specialist in the IPL and forming the core of West Indies quintet of T20 globe-trotting superstars (Gayle, Narine, Bravo, Pollard, and Russell), which underpinned the team's decade of dominance in the format.

Also remembered for his longevity in the sport, playing for 18 years as genuine all rounder at the top level.

A modern great in T20 cricket, who helped build the world's first great T20I team.

DB will be remembered as a very good all-rounder with a death ball that bamboozled even the most talented batsmen.

This is such a lovely read.

Yamfoot 2021-11-13 02:21:57

This is how I will remember him.
Two years into his career.....Lara trusted him enough to give him the ball in the final over with India needing 11 runs to win the ODI in 2006 at Sabina Park.

Read what I wrote about that match.

(Yes, for those newbies...mi did deh bout long time!)

I remember this match like it was yesterday. This was one of the matches that showed me he would become a massive player for the W.I.

This was one of the greatest sporting moments I ever witnessed. It is up there with the 2016 mens 400m finals. The tension followed by unrivalled jubilation was something yet unmatched. I would love to hear our resident Indians recall this match from their perspective.

Brilliant.

Agreed re Seechy's tribute.

I remember that match as the debut of his slower ball.
