WAS ANDY ROBERTS VEX WITH LLOYD IN '79?

big grin

ANDY ROBERTS:The best I batted for West Indies was in World Series Cricket in the Supertest in Jamaica in 1979. Australia had us on the run and it was the second innings. I combined well with Clive in a 226-run partnership for the sixth wicket. But he ran me out while trying to get away from Jeff Thomson. He hit the ball straight to Trevor Chappell at short cover and ran. I could not make my ground. I was 89 run out

Don't know but what I do know is that Lloyd put his arm around Andy and walked 2/3rd's way back to the pavilion with him. If Andy's comment was made after 1983 and it is colored by bitterness then that is understandable

Here is why this is ABSURD.

Roberts was run out with the score 453
Lloyd was out with the score 480 of which Lloyd had made 197
What that means is that when Roberts was run out,Lloyd's score was at least 170.

He is 170 not out and running away from a bowler!!!!!!

Now for some information
MOST international runs vs Australia when both Lillee and Thompson played
1.Vivian Richards1328 runs in 25 innings @63.23
2.Clive Lloyd 1003 runs in 21 innings @ 71.54
3.Zaheer Abbas 682 runs in 12 innings @ 56.83

Ask yourself this question. Did anybody learn anything new from my post?
If the answer is no, then you are correct.

Anecdote from Clive himself.
Hampshire vs Lancashire 1974. Andy has fired out 2 or 3 Lancashire batsmen and Clive comes to the wicket to join Frank Hayes. First ball up he gets a short sharp one which he manages to glide down to fine leg and sets off for a run and Hayes immediately shouts TWO and Lloyd firmly responds ONE.
