Kyle Mayers should have been in UAE

Did excellently in the t20 series in NZ. For some reason, the selectors are pigeonholing him again into tests. It would be a big mistake not to have him in both white ball sides

Even Blackwood is an aggressive player who only plays tests

I have said this before, we need all format players and not white ball specialists. Check all the top teams, you’ll see about 8-9 all format players in their playing 11s. We are probably the only side that just has white ball players

It looks that way. Playing across all formats makes a player well-rounded and the best players do so.

Exactly. I was really shocked he wasn't even in the ODIs versus SL this year. I know everyone was excited about the fantastic double ton in Bangladesh, but you need to expose him to different formats and the strike rates required in them. I do not think anyone wants another Kraigg Brathwaite who just defends without rotating the strike abd finally leaces with no runs on the ball and a still fresh cherry

Kyle Myers game is built for t20 cricket also Jermaine Blackwood but guess what, the selectors know best. even this guy John Campbell looks a decent stroke maker for that format..

velo 2021-11-08 12:45:01

the wi mindset needsto change regarding t20 cricket they are stuck in the past jaden seales or alzharri need to be drafted into this squad to take wickets teams are now playing two and three specialists bowlers not just bits and pieces allrounders like thewi who had trouble taking wickets

In reply to velo

Joseph hasn’t really been consistent at taking wickets as he should be at this stage

Whilst I also feel that Mayers seems to have a game that might be suited to T 20 cricket I was surprised by your opening statement.

An event, a verb and either Hunte, HIlliare, Viv, JHo, Braffit, Carlos, Hooper, Hope and off you go

Since you are my learned friend, could you explain to me what a "tribal misanthrope" is. I,only barely passed English at O levels back in the day after having to get "extra-lessons" and when I came to the US,I had to pass an "English" test to practice the profession.

Try as you like you can't get RTN out of your mind. It's haunting you.

Carlos goes down in history and no one can take that away. Who will remember Pouty world cup exploits?

In reply to Jumpstart

If they weren't courting a legacy why did they all comeback to play t20wc?

Btw Carlos might not be making as much as Pouty but he is making a decent living now and has a future in commentary.

However, when I am discussing cricket I don't give a fig about how rich a player is.

They weren't chasing a legacy.......the legacy is already there. They were trying to win. The pitches were low and slow and they never adjusted. I think they were demoralized after the warmups

You are a fan of tennis, not once have you have write about the players money, Grand slams and tournament wins, is what I hear from you about.
I am a believer, that Bajans have to smart when dealing with Trinies, take the Meat outta me rice, is something to remember, when dealing with our cousins.

Thats BS, you had a Gayle who was failing for sometime, an old and unfit Rampaul, Russell on one leg, Simmons who could not buy a run.
Thats why I label the Team Pollard and Friends.
There was very little strategy going into any of the games.
Think about it, Hosein and Holder were reserves, Allen got injured and Hosein was in the starting X1, McCoy got injured and Holder is in the starting X1.
Hetmyer was up and down the batting order, Gayle failed every match, but continued in the starting X1.
Not every fan is blinded by what went on in that series.

I didn't think Gayle should have been part of the XI. In fact i believe the CWI overcompensated for the fact that they have not treated the legends of recent times well. Viv with the 1992 world cup, lara in 07 etc. Gayle was clearly shot. He has no technique so he so his advantages were his eyesight and reflexes. That was gone since early last year.

FuzzyWuzzy 2021-11-08 22:24:36

I hear you. You are correct. None of them have more money than Federer, Rafa and Djokovic and they still chasing legacy

It is only West Indies fans, that winning is not the goal.
No one ask how many tournaments have Lara won, but would go after Sammy, after he brought home two WC tournaments.
Thats why I am a Steeler with six Superbowl rings, and also bow to Tom Brady who has seven.

Hoss lara achieve more than any WI captain since 1996. He has reached 3 ICC champions trophy finals and won one final. Has Darren Sammy ever tied a series with the number one test side? Brian Lara is the last West Indian captain to NOT lose a series versus the Aussies. I think that is a hell of an achievement. If you want to belittle it, fine. But no WI captain has replicated it since. And that to while making 500+ runs at an avg of 91 across the four tests

Blackwood should have been playing ODI cricket for years now. If you look at blackwood game it is more suited to ODI. And to be clear I am not saying that Blackwood should not be playing test cricket-rather he should be playing both.

If Chase could make a 20/20 team there is no reason why Kyle Myers could not be part of the WI 20/20 setup. As a matter of fact I would have included Myers before Chase.

As I stated earlier, I am a Pittsburg Steeler fans, we don't believe is competing at the Super Bowl, winning is what we all enjoy.
Thats why as a West Indies fan, I am so proud of the Clive Lloyd and Vivian Richards era, the ICC championship trophy and Sammy two T20 wins.
I have a number of items from Australia, given to me in front of hundreds of employees, showing me how good Australia was.
Kept the Tie, but gave away everything else.
Don't tell me about Richardson, Lara, Holder, Kraigg or Pollard and Friends, I've suffered losing, but this WC was the worst.

Alan 2021-11-09 00:53:48

I dont understand why Mayers wasnt picked. This format of cowlashing cricket cricket would have suited him.One of many mysteries surrounding Windies cricket. This guy belongs to the future...Gayle to the past. Its a shambles. Was he unavailable? The dunces like Simmons and co.Whom we have even not seen or heard from.Only Pollard.

Jumpstart 2021-11-09 09:47:02

In reply to Alan

CWI handled the gayle situation with kid gloves. They were wary if how they treated past legends like Viv and Lara. But Viv was still at a reasonable level before the world cup. Lara's antepenultimate innings was a double hundred. They weren't in the state like Gayle who showed clear signs of decline

Emir 2021-11-09 11:20:00

I can see him on the ODI squad but not T-20. Perhaps he can grow into becoming an all format player.

Alan 2021-11-09 13:10:14

In reply to Emir
Dont think he has the patience and technique yet to be a test batsman. But in the shorter formats he will do well if given the chance.A useful bowler too who can do a job resticting run rate and taking the odd wicket. He should have been in this world cup.

Scar 2021-11-09 22:42:21

In reply to carl0002 Blackie should be playing T20 and as the move up and down the order batsman cause he still have probs with spinners.
