"I can watch Hetmyer loft spinners all day," gasps surya. "Not since Ganguly have I seen a more good looking left-handed lofter of the cricket ball than Him."

Rashid to Hetmyer, FOUR runs
Finds the boundary again, this one cut firmly off the back foot... Anderson gamely attempted to get round but couldn't cut it off

Rashid to Hetmyer, SIX runs
Full, in the slot, hammered with a vengeance into the second tier at long-off! Picked the googly from Rashid and launches it with a outrageous Caribbean flourish into the stands! This is what people were talking about...

He could but he would be doing himself a disservice. Back then he looked more like De Duke than De Flamingo

There was a straight six that kid hit against a NZ attack at home scoring sixty odd was the moment I realized WI may have a batsman again!!!
Now we're stuck with Rotimyer but In my opinion he's finding himself and will come good sooner rather than later!!!

One of reason Viv, Greenidge, Tiger Woods and others were greats, their always had something that need fixing, and would work on it.
This WC and the last IPL was not good development for Hetty, he was used as a Yoyo.
His role was strictly and Powerhitting role.
Thats the player he has become, it is up to him what he want to do going forward.

It really is quite simple.Your best 2 batters should be given the # 3 and # 4 positions. You decide which one comes first, Pooran or Hetmyer. One has 9 scores over 80 for the WI while the other has 2.

Are you referring to T20 or cricket in general?
BTW, in the T20 format, you may want to have a left and right combination, when setting a batting order.

Having watch cricket all my life, that statement is surely nonsense, your best batsman should have a solid resume.
I had the opportunity to watch Rohan when I was about 13 years, it was the fans during the game, whose discussions told me how good he was.
The argument was who was better Gary or Rohan.
They both had solid resumes, at that time.

I am not convinced about Hettys defensive technique and Poormans is even worse

I said: Hetty and Pooran are our two best batters
You said :That statement is surely nonsense
I then will say: Who are our two best batters?
I await to hear what you will say.

The obvious question then is, which WI batsmen's defensive technique are you convinced about???

We just don't have a solid consistent batsman for me to tell you, who are the best.
I would have both Pooran and Hetmyer in my T20 and ODI squads, but to have them playing test cricket, they would both have to perform in a 4-day tournament, before being selected.
We cannot used one or two good innings to say who is the best.

There was a time when I had high hopes that King, Hope, Pooran and Hety would be a middle order that would make us all proud. Alas!

I was home in 1985, visited my old Games master, who was the scorer for Barbados.
He spoke to me about Viv and Hooper.
He said, people say Viv is great, but he had not shown his greatness, and Hooper looked pretty, but cannot build an inning.
Very soon after Viv played in a regional game against T&T, one I remember calling QPO about 3-4 four times to get update of Viv's inning.
The next evening I got a call, telling me about Viv's inning and how great it was.
Hooper retired and my games master was convinced he was just a pretty looking batsman, not someone to depend on at the wicket.

No 4 day matches have been played since March 2020 but in the meantime a man has played 30 test innings and has 8 ducks in those 30 innings but continues to be selected. His average in those 30 innings is 18.55 and I assume you are comfortable with that.

You would Roger about the selection of a player with 18.55 average.
I stucked my neck out for Chandrika, who embarrass the hell out of me, I've learned my lesson, and I let performance speak for itself.
The last batsman that I praise on this MB was Gordon Greenidge, I have too many tapes of his memory.
I am a fan of KB, but one of his critics.

The reason I remain a fan of Kraigg, he is one of the young crop of West Indies batsman, that have scored tons at every level, and I believe with him having his new management team around him, he can start scoring tons of runs again.

Stucked, thanks for the correction.

We mention shiv and great in the same sentence. That tells us the state of our current batsmen.
