Narper 2021-11-11 13:44:09

Aaron Finch -
We will bowl. The wicket will not change a lot over the course of the game. The guys are relaxed, there'll be obvious nerves. This pitch has played true right through the IPL and the World Cup and expect more of the same tonight, no changes in the playing XI.

Narper 2021-11-11 13:44:38

Babar Azam -
We'll have to put runs on the board and then defend it. It's an honour to lead this bunch of players, looking forward to playing some good cricket. UAE is our backyard, we know these conditions well. No changes for us as well.

Mohammad Hafeez:
As a team we are proud of our journey. We are mentally and physically ready for this match. The pressure is the game. Different guys are taking responsibility and the guys are responding really well, which is why this team is very special. We are very relaxed, we have prepared ourselves very well and are very confident in looking forward to the challenge. Pressure is always high in ICC events. People want you to win no matter what. We have done a great job so far and hopefully we will continue with this momentum in the next two games.

Zampa to Babar Azam, out Caught by Warner!! And the pressure gets to Babar - this is simply superb from Zampa, kept the lid on with his line and length, now he teases Babar with a slower leg-break - Babar can't resist the big shot, went for the slog-sweep, but he ended up dragging it down Warner's throat at long-on. The opening stand has been broken and it's the impressive Zampa once again for Australia.

18.1
Cummins to Asif Ali, out Caught by Smith!! And gone first ball! No finishing stories for Asif Ali to be happy about today. Was a slower wide delivery and Asif Ali dragged it across the line to find the man at long-on. He had to go for it and mistimed it for an easy catch to be gobbled up. The dot ball would hurt Pakistan more as there are seven wickets still left.

Starc to Shoaib Malik, out Bowled!! Clearly wanted to take the onus for the big shot and misses to be clean bowled. Was a length delivery and angled in for the batter to miss the line. Might have been a touch slower as well. Starc finally getting it right after the pasting he got in the last over. In to the wicket is the mantra! Pakistan haven't had a lot of momentum in the last few overs as the batters continue to fall prey to big shots. Second wicket for Starc

Starc to Fakhar Zaman, SIX, my my! This man has chosen the biggest stage to get his mojo back. He is making a mockery of Starc. That was another fuller length delivery and Fakhar Zaman swipes that across the line to bring up his fifty. Fifty off 31 balls for Fakhar Zaman

Matthew Hayden - Obviously, there's a conflict of interests, my heart is all for Australia. But this was a fantastic opportunity with Pakistan, big fan of this batting line-up, have performed superbly right through with the bat all along and tonight is no exception. Rizwan was in hospital a night ago, suffering from a bronchitis condition, but this is a warrior, a quiet start to tonight's campaign, but he has great courage, so has Babar, fantastic to see them combine so well.

Shaheen Afridi to Warner, no run, swing for Afridi. Uhhh! He nearly had a wicket first ball. Angled in a bit on a good length, Warner is caught in the crease and he does well not to go searching for the ball, keeps his bat close and allows the ball to beat the outside edge

Shaheen Afridi to Finch, out Lbw!! Dubai erupts! Afridi has pinged Finch plumb in front. This was so dead that the Australian skipper does not even bother to discuss about the review, puts his bat under his arm and starts walking off. The inswinger and Finch is caught moving his front foot forward, the ball strikes him below the kneeroll and the impact was right in front of the stumps.

Shaheen Afridi to Mitchell Marsh, no run, Pakistan retain their review. Top, top decision from umpire Chris Gaffaney. He was under a lot of pressure with almost everyone at the venue appealing, but he kept his calm and made the right decision. Marsh is welcomed by an inswinging yorker, he is late in bringing his bat down and is pinned on the boot, the impact seemed iffy and the ball was swinging as well, just clipping leg-stump

Shadab Khan to Mitchell Marsh, out Caught by Asif Ali!! Shadab strikes second ball! The crowd find their voice again. This is a big wicket for Pakistan. These two are the in-form batters and they have managed to break this paratnership. Marsh did not want to allow Shadab to settle, he goes for the slog sweep, but it is never a good idea hitting against the turn, the top-edge skies straight up and Asif Ali runs in from long leg to settle under it.

Warner should have used the review...anyway go Pakistan!

Narper 2021-11-11 16:57:49

10.1
Shadab Khan to Warner, out Caught by Rizwan!! A slight nick, and a massive blow. The drinks break does what none of the Pakistani bowlers could, breaking Warner's concentration, as he goes chasing after a pretty innocuous looking delivery -- short, going across outside off with width. It bounces a touch extra though, kissing the top-half of his attempted punch through to the keeper. Well, well, well, UltraEdge is a flat line and there's a clear gap between bat and all. But there was a noise. And Warner's been foxed into believing it to be the edge.

Warner c Rizwan b Shadab Khan 49(30) [4s-3 6s-3]

13.1
Haris Rauf to Stoinis, no run, a direct hit and Wade had given up trying. It isn't to be Stoinis dabs it softly to Shadab at point, who's a mini-Jadeja himself, swooping in low, quickly and firing a throw at the non-striker's where Wade is already halfway down the pitch to pinch a single. Stoinis isn't in the least interested ..

Shaheen Afridi to Stoinis, 1 run, another missed direct-hit, another missed run-out .. 128kph, short, into the body. Stoinis swivels, inside-edging it onto himself before the ball rolls just next to the pitch on the leg-side.
Wade calls him through, and very luckily, Afridi's throw is off-target despite him having all three stumps to aim at

,Shaheen Afridi to Stoinis, no run, swivel-pull, slight under-edge, but dropping just short of the keeper. Rizwan immediately signals, and cuts short Afridi's celebration. Never mind, Pakistan will take a dot here

Shaheen Afridi to Stoinis, leg byes, 1 run, Pakistan review an LBW: It's always dodgy with these over the wicket lines from a leftie to a rightie, and this one has pitched well down leg as Stoinis crouches, swipes, misses and gets struck in front of off with the ball then rolling away to third man

Shaheen Afridi to Wade, 2 runs, dropped! Hasan Ali once again. Oh, as if that last over wasn't bad enough on his resume already. It's whipped uppishly, right down his throat at backward square leg, and he overruns it for some reason, gets hurried then while trying to grab. The ball slips right through his fingers
18.4

I always question the tactic of automatically pulling your strike bowler after his first two overs in T20. I believe if the bowler is hot, then bowl him out.

Babar Azam | Losing skipper:
I thought we scored as many runs as we had planned in the first innings. I think if we give such teams a chance in the back end, it is going to be costly. The turning point was that dropped catch. Had we taken it, the scenario could have been different. The way we gelled and played the entire tournament, I am satisfied as a captain. Hopefully we'll learn from this for the next tournament. When you play so well throughout, there were small mistakes that cost us the match in the end. We gave players roles and they executed it really well. The way the crowds supported us, we enjoyed a lot as a team. We always enjoy playing here.

Narper 2021-11-11 18:34:27

Aaron Finch | Winning skipper:
Never thought it was in the bag. It was a great game of cricket. The way Wade held his nerve at the end was amazing. That partnership with Stoinis was crucial. I got my feet in a tangle and opening batsmen do get a few good balls now and then in T20 cricket. We were sloppy today in the field, a couple of tough ones. We need the support of all 17 players to get across the line. We have played some really good cricket in the back end. Teams chasing have been successful. There is no dew, the lights take effect. I was hoping I'd lose the toss, bat first and put up a good score on the board.

Narper 2021-11-11 18:35:15

Matthew Wade | Player of the Match: Absolutely (preempted the scoops). I was talking to Stoinis at the other end and tried to work out what they're doing. I got a little more pace on than expected, I probably could have used it a little bit earlier, but yeah.. glad to get a couple at the end. There wasn't a lot of chat before I went in as we lost quick wickets. But when I got out there, Me and Marcus had batted together in the first game and got some momentum today as well. I was a bit unsure but Marcus showed me the way out. There was one short side and I was confident that if I had to target that then I could pull it off, but it got down to two-a-ball and you had to hit everything in your arc. I got a boundary away early on and then stalled for 5-6 balls, but Marcus got the boundary away and got us to a total where I was confident in the last two overs. It hasn't sunk in but probably when I sit down tonight it might sink in. I was out of the two team for 2-3 years, just came back 20 games ago and happy to have repaid the faith.
