Why have the selectors discarded Brooks?

Wally-1 2021-11-14 13:11:47

Anyone? Is he injured?

I was surprised at that too.

Wow!
sad

He should have gone to Bangladesh. Instead his countryman scored a double ton.
big grin big grin big grin Lesson learned....When you in a team of mediocre swipers. Dont give up any opportunity to play.

Even Chase remaking himself as a 20/20 specialist...if u can imagine that. big grin big grin big grin

Why have the selectors discarded Hemraj and Motie?

JamMack 2021-11-15 11:12:24

Because they are dumb!

Jeremy 2021-11-15 14:49:48

why you insult wally by saying brooks is dumb.

Brooks is a fool. He should have gone Bang as CAPTAIN...he is a superior captain to Brathwaite or Holder....instead he stood home and now has even lost his spot in the team.

How could a guy over 30 pass over such an opportunity?

dayne 2021-11-15 19:31:59

Yes Brooks should have gone on the Bangladesh tour, but it is not easy to argue for a batsman with a Test average below thirty.

Holder and Hope seem to have been rehabilitated. What is wrong with Brooks?

dayne 2021-11-15 21:42:29

In reply to VoopsandOut

Both Holder and Hope are younger and multi-skilled. Also the coach might have a better relationship with both.

Head coach cum selector Simmons ...thinks Solonzo better than Brooks....reasons unknown....most probably the same mindset...that saw aged, injury prone and out of form players selected for T-20 World Cup....

VoopsandOut 2021-11-16 11:57:48

In reply to Onionman0

Brooks is not an opener, Solzano is. Brooks will compete primarily with Bonner for #3 batting spot.

Onionman0 2021-11-16 13:22:51

In reply to VoopsandOut

Take the case of Hope....opener, no.3,4,5,6.....batted every where.... failed.. given opportunity.. again ,again and again...

Take case of Chemar Holder...made a decent debut...did admirably in regional...but no where near team....

My point is Head Coach has his own perspective regarding players...which , to my opinion faulty and demotivational for players... Performance should be the criteria for selection and not Simmons personal likes and dislikes...non-selection of Brooks is bad .......

As a general rule

Your batting average should be more than your age!!!

I do not understand your comparison, Campbell had few other players challenging him for his position, Brooks have many competitors who are younger. What is puzzling is why a number 3 batsman cannot open the batting, Brooks looks like a batsman who could open, his technique looks solid.

Maybe Brooks can send a message to the selectors by opening the batting for Barbados when the FC season starts again in early 2022.

We'll see if he's prepared to do that....

Funny but true!

The only issue with that is that Mosely had a good FC season when the last one was held. My opinion is if a player bats at #3 consistently, he should be able to open, because many times he is at the crease in the early overs.

camos 2021-11-18 20:00:39

Brooks discarded the selectors when they needed him.

Listen up, Dayne, the door was left wide open. I cannot read your mind. Next time be more specific, and I won't have to think of your argument as a general statement.

VoopsandOut 2021-11-18 22:29:53

the point is that Brooks' test average is definitely not the worst among the current crop and what should be done is to compare others who played in 2019-2020 to see how many are better. That can give us an idea whether he was dropped for justifiably. Personally, Brooks is one of the batsmen currently that I love to watch bat. He is silky smooth when he is set.

Who was better? Brooks or Stuart Williams?

If you're speaking of his test avg. then may I ask what was Kallis's at similar juncture?

I would give that to Stuart. Dat man was sweet too bad when he was in full flow

analyst-kid 2021-11-19 15:52:46

The thing about Brooks is he is strong captaincy material. The selectors might have appointed him BOTH Test and ODI captain ahead of Brathwaite and Jason Mohammed to Bangladesh. Look how BONNER AND MAYERS have secured themselves ahead of him!

In another earlier era the great Kallicharan grabbed his opportunity to captain WI but in Brooks case they were no returning great players to displace him.

VoopsandOut 2021-11-19 21:10:37

He is young enough still to fight his way back into a team with at best frail batting.
