The Toss

Too significant a factor.

The true T20 champion is that coin

Yes, the toss is too significant a factor in t20s, but is there an alternative to the toss?

Kay 2021-11-14 18:25:30

The toss is supposed to give whoever wins it an advantage, that is why they do it ...

Agreed. Authorities need to brainstorm a solution. Perhaps playing the 40 overs (I.e. 20 overs each side) in alternating 5 over quarters. So team that wins the toss and chooses to field first will bat during the 6th to 10th over, then the other side comes back to bat for 5 overs and they keep alternating for the remaining 40 over contest.

Rather than changing the format of the match ,simply do away with the toss and take the baseball route....home team bats second.
Or let the visiting team so designated in World Cup tournaments, the choice. same difference.
The bottom, line is that the team that plays better wins, toss or no toss.

I don’t think the toss is the problem. T20 is a batsman game plus you play on a dead surface that offers nothing to the bowlers only makes the game that less balanced and uninteresting.

I believe the solution is to prepare pitches with much more in it for the bowlers!

It has nothing to do with the bowlers or pitches. It has all to do with the mindset of the batsmen batting last knowing how to pace their innings while the batsmen who bat first do not have that luxury.

Maybe alternating every 10 overs will be better. 5 overs is too short.

Do you really understand the game? Are you suggesting that once you pace a game no matter the batting conditions you are guaranteed a win? A discussion with you might be unproductive.

In this WC, the late games, who won the toss, mostly likely win, Xcept for playing those lesser teams that qualified.
If the ICC had any semblance of fair play, they would have started the semi finals and finals 1/1.2 hr earlier. I called both semi finals after the toss.

It's not just the toss. But, the TOSS given the pitch conditions

That's the point!

Toss is like rain leading to Duckworth Lewis result. Just part of the game. Perhaps the toss should be the day before the game (with lights camera and action) and before final XI is declared so that the team losing the toss can make some preparation for conditions it is likely to face. Or maybe only the team losing the toss can change up to perhaps 2 players in its XI so that this neutralises the loss of the toss.
