Dimuth Karunaratne:
We will bat first. we are playing an experienced team and as batters we have to take responsibility and put up a good score on the board. It's bit hard (not having played Test cricket of late) but we are used to it and we are prating really hard the last couple of days.

Kraigg Brathwaite:
We got a job to do. It's just about backing your plans and just about enjoying your first game (talking about debutant Jeremy Solozano). Not much of a setback (rained out practice game), we had some good practice games in Antigua and really looking to playing out there in the middle.

Holder to Karunaratne, FOUR, nice stroke for four. Mid-off is not in his conventional position, more of a straight short cover, so Karunaratne drives and gets four. Full outside off, right off the middle of the bat from Karunaratne

Holder to Karunaratne, 2 runs, swings into Karunaratne but the line's veering towards middle and Karunaratne nudges it wide of square leg for a couple

Gabriel to Nissanka, no run, that has rapped Nissanka on the glove. Immediately the bottom-hand comes off and so do the gloves. Rising short delivery, Nissanka hops to defend but the ball thuds into the right-hand. It didn't pop up after hitting the glove, the physio is out to have a look and we have a mini break in play

Solozano floored..hit on the grill...full blooded pull
23.4
Roston Chase to Karunaratne, no run, the debutant Jeremy Solozano is on the floor. He has been smashed on the front of the helmet grille, gee! The Scoop stretcher is out to carry him off the field. The coach looks a worried man as he bustles down the stairs from the dressing room. The medical staff are out trying to examine the proceedings. Solozano remains unmoved. That was hit really hard by Karunaratne, it was dropped short and the Sri Lankan skipper had all the time in the world to rock back and muscle the pull on the leg-side, got it off the middle and bang into the helmet of the ducking short leg fielder. We are hearing that the rear part of the helmet has come off. The players, umpires are waiting anxiously as the sub fielders rush in with a bag of drinks
Jeremy Solozano is being stretchered off the field as the ambulance rushes in around the sidelines... The West Indies head coach is ambling towards the medical staff to get an update. Let's hope it ain't as serious as it appears. The ambulance is just about to take off as the players get ready to resume proceedings....

Jayawickrama to Holder, out Caught by Chameera!! Another fantastic catch by Sri Lanka. Karunaratne took a blinder earlier and it's Chameera this time around. This was on the shorter side and the ball gripped into the surface. Holder gets deceived to the grip and ends up slicing it to point where Chameera is quick to move across and he flies to his right to complete the catch. The ploy to bring in Jayawickrama has worked for Sri Lanka as he gets the set batsman. Two relatively new batters at the crease now.

Can Sri Lanka make a brave call by adding just 125 and ask the visitors to chase around 275? Or will they play it safe and look for a lead of 350? Answers to that in a short while as we wait for their 2nd innings.

Bat to the end of the day, and if you're in a good position go for the win tomorrow.
Otherwise, bat solidly, and wait for rain to save us!

Embuldeniya to Blackwood, out Caught by Mathews!! What has Blackwood done here? He has holed out to mid-on. Even though they are checking for a fair catch. The soft signal is out. Looks like the fingers are under the ball and Blackwood has to go. What a poor shot from Blackwood who has an irritating tendency to play ill-advised shots to spin and get out at inopportune moments. This certainly is one such instance.

Ramesh Mendis to Shai Hope, out Bowled!! Gone! Ramesh Mendis exults. Regulation offbreak from Ramesh Mendis, Shai Hope goes deep in his crease to whip, but misses, brushes the pad and hits the top of middle and leg. Hope was fooled by the loop, should've been forward to that, instead went back and paid the price. His poor run with the bat continues and West Indies have lost three already

But then gets out for 54 (129). He did well, occupying the crease, and using up over 100 balls. A pity the frontline batsmen, aside from Bonner, were unable to do that.

Dimuth Karunaratne | Sri Lanka skipper and Player of the Match:
It's a great Test for me. I'm playing after a long time and I didn't even play any club cricket recently. I think youngsters are gaining experience from the experienced guys and we have guys like Mathews and Chandimal and spinners did a good job. The fast bowlers didn't get many overs but they did the job with the ball. The last couple of months there were heavy rains and we weren't sure how the wicket was gonna behave and that's why we picked two pacers. We will see how the conditions are for the next one before thinking about team selections. We need to carry on the good work and I have some targets to achieve and I'm glad that we are playing well as a unit.

Kraigg Brathwaite | West Indies skipper:
Always believe first innings score was important and we fell short there. Must commend the bowlers, asked for some aggression and they showed it. I thought they were decent and we really let ourselves down with the bat in the first innings. We need to have more clarity with the bat as showed by Joshua and Bonner today morning. If you gotta defend, gotta defend very confidently.
