Cricket Coach par excellence

I have to pay respect to the legend..before the advent of the internet and mobile phones, Wilbert Parkes would travel around the corporate area and would provide updates on senior cup cricket…back when the likes of Yagga Rowe, Everton Mattis, Maurice Foster, Jeff Dujon, Mikey Holding, Renford Pinnock, Colin Fletcher, Danny Germs Austin, Herbert Chang, the Gordons(Hylton, Carlton, John), Terrence Cork, Uton Dowe, Clem Thompson et al were preening themselves in the weekly competition…

Without Parkes many of us cricket fanatics would have been left in the dark..

Much respect Wilbert…

In reply to FanAttick++Wow . Sad to hear of his passing.
Yes Wilbert was a key stringer reporter for the Daily News too and covered and gave reports on almost every cricket
game at all levels for us back then. He was key in that regard.
His work at Campion was top class. He was such an unassuming guy and professional.
Goodbye Wilbert, You left a legacy.
RIP

Wilbert Parks was a great man - Gareth Breese and Julian (who played both schoolboy football and cricket) were beneficiaries of his immense knowledge of the game and life in general.
