There is something about Gabriel & Warrican
In reply to sudden
How Gabriel got the nod over Kemar Roach amazes me. Gabriel has more pace but less control than Roach. Furhermore, Roach is a handy lower order batsman unlike Gabriel. Also, the latter gets injured very often and tends to be more expensive.
Warrican's stats are better than Permaul's and he is a better batsman. The only other choice would have been to go with another pacer which may not be the best choice on this wicket. At the end of the day, the outcome will be the same no matter who was selected. We need a big innings from rain to at least draw this series.

Roach's batting ability doesn't need to be factored in here. The point is he is a better bower than Gabriel. Seals should also be playing in my view.

Agree, the team appears to be missing a bowler, at the moment Roach is the best bowler in the Caribbean, it is surprising he was left out.

Warrican was getting central contracts even when his regional performances were below par and when he was not even playing intl cricket
Gabriel on the other hand has performed and won us matches - he has what a 150+ wickets?
In reply to Windiesfan78
Sure about this? Permaul is better bowler than Warrican 10 years from now. For me Motie is the future better than both of them.
In reply to WalterWhite
Yes it does Walter because the extra runs you get from Roach and the time spent at the crease can make a huge difference in the context of a match. It was because of Roach's batting ability that he was able to bat with the tail to knock off the runs needed to beat Pakistan in that first test this year. This is one of the reasons why he should have been selected.

In all fairness to Permaul, I was looking at the stats for their international careers in test cricket. Permaul has more experience at FC level being that he is older. However, Warrican's FC stats are also impressive. I am not familiar with Motie. I just looked him up and he seems to be a talent. I have no problem with giving the youngsters a chance. In this case, CWI went with proven experience.

You are amazed. I am shocked to the core about this selection. They must have told Roach to retire.

Warrican stats at test level is better than Permaul, they are dead even at fc .

]Maybe he is hurt.
Gabriel can get us wickets but he is far too expensive. I think that it is time to get Ambrose back into the senior setup. Jason Holder bowls the most consistent line out of our bowlers. If Gabriel could hold a similiar line with his pace he would get better results.

I've been calling Warrican a Robot for years.
He reminds me of someone, who will not find and alternate route, if there is an accident, on his way home.
He will sit in his car, until the coast is cleared.
After seeing Dasilva having to chase a number of balls, it is time for Cornwall to find work in the NFL or wrestling.
Warrican bowled well, out of the spinners he looked like the one most likely to get a wicket, two catches were not taken off his bowling, but eventually the WI will have to make a decision on Cornwall, DaSilva had to chase balls to the boundary, which other Test team will someone see that happening?
In reply to dayne
Have you ever seen his bowl over the wicket to a right handed batsman?
In reply to openning
I cannot recall, but Warrican has variations, it's subtle.
In reply to dayne
I have been following him for years, he is too robotic to be successful.

What? It cannot be that. The Selectors do not know what the heck they are doing.
Our best fast bowler since Ambrose and Walsh hang up their boots.
Roach: 33 yrs----Wickets: 231--- Average: 27.06---- economy: 3.06
BTW, Gabriel is the same age as Kemar and they are very good friends.

Is your homselice injured or ill?
If not, then his omission in this test is shocking to say the least
In reply to dayne
Maybe thats why Dowrich not in the mix anymore.
He may have said NO FORKANE WAY to chasing balls to the boundary while the slipper folds his arms & watches on.
That said .its not different with Gayle in the playing XI either.
We should call a spade a spade, Cornwall is playing the wrong sport.
Bro I am a sports fan, watched some of the T10.

I know. All respect to you bruh
Well, looks like these two were the only players outside of Chase to get wickets.

Cornwall has had several years and there has been no significant change. It's time to move on.

Nah tek worries, its a long 2 test series Windies are implementing the rotation policy
meanwhile back at the front, Warrican picked up 3 wickets. perhaps we underestimate the guy. What is his test bowling record compared to Chase and Cornwall? I just checked. Chase 41 matches 71 wickets. Warrican 12 matches 35 wickets. Cornwall 8 matches 32 wickets. Dont know if these include the current test. Warrican has the best average of the three.
