It's disappointing that Hope, in his capacity as 'substitute batsman', couldn't capitalize on the opportunity like his teammate Blackwood did when he acted as West Indies first in such a capacity.

Blackwood held on with 'both hands', and has since elevated himself to the coveted position of Vice Captain of the West Indies.

It could be nerves.
I remember David Holdford batting with his cousin in a test match at the Oval. and Gary saying to him, playing here is no different to playing in the park, which help ease the nerves.
Sobers 163 not out and David Holford 105 not out put on an unbroken 274 to save their team and draw the match.
They is not a confident experience batsman on the test team, with the white ball format players seem to be more relax and not as nervous, when batting.
