Now with Omicron, the positive hits are hitting home. Have you noticed this?

Plenty I know have had it.

We seem to be worse off now than at any other time in covid past, with what appears to be less critical symptoms, but higher numbers

Several of my friends in the UK have tested positive and they're quite unwell.

Worrying times.

Nuff, nuff people ketching covid (Omicron) now. Most of my clients have shut down their establishments while staff recovers. Many family members, friends, acquaintances have it. I suspect many on this MB know at least 1 or 2 people with current symptoms but they wouldn't say. The good thing with Omicron is that almost everyone recovers. All we can do is pray for the safety and health of everyone.

cool

It does create a mind issue, panic, fear, worry etc.

Have to get past those.

Alcohol helps, in my opinion, both externally and internally.

I went to a Christmas Eve party in Bim and at least 7 of the 20 people who attended came down with Covid. Fortunately, all have had mild symptoms. The only reason these people knew they had Covid is because they had to be tested before returning to the United States.

I also have close friend in Miami who is currently recovering from Covid. Another mild case

Why did you go to the party? Is it that:
1. You simply could not miss out?
2. There was a girl you wanted to .... from long time?
3. You don't care about the virus?
4. B'dos gain independence from England and from Virus
5. You want to experience the virus?
6. Man a guh dead eventually anyway

It was a backyard party at a beach house. I did not want to go but the wife and kids did, and you know how that goes. I ended up going and staying to myself or around the wife and kids only. I know we were exposed to the virus, but luckily none of us got it.

I was planning to go back to Barbados for the T20s against England, but that is no longer going to happen. Only business travel for me for the time being ...

If you were exposed and caught it on Monday, you have now gone 4 days without symptoms. You will be in the clear soon.

One of my friends who caught Covid had a fever that lasted about 6 hours on Day 3 after exposure. He took some over-the-counter medicine and went to sleep for a few hours and "sweated it out". He woke up with no fever and has felt normal since then. He tested negative yesterday. This friend was fully vaccinated and boosted.

His wife, who also was fully vaccinated and boosted, got the sniffles and a cough and went to the doctor. She tested positive on a rapid test and the doctor prescribed steroids and sent her home. She also tested negative yesterday.

Aren't steroids part of the treatment protocol for Covid? I just called and she got antibiotics as well.

Here's another super spreader scenario - the cost of getting tested is preventing many from confirming their status and if positive and asymptomatic, they unknowingly give it to everyone around them.

Is testing free in all Caribbean countries?

I think people are less fearful of a Covid diagnosis and are now more willing to disclose it. Just my observation.

That's also my motivation for this thread, to help to remove some of the stigma.

It's really hitting close to home, and maybe that's to be expected in year 2.

I know too much people who had it and too much people who died with it. The situation in Trinidad is not good. Getting Covid feels almost inevitable

What's vaccination rate in Trinidad?

Vaccinated folks have another tool to ease the effects.

I think any fever or cold symptoms have to be considered as positive covid unless confirmed by testing, and, in the absence of a test, isolate and mask up if those symptoms exist.
