Omicron seems to be a watered down flu, mostly. What happened to old time cold and flu viruses?

The cold and flu are coming back with a vengeance now that people are not wearing masks, social distancing and sanitizing like before.

Actually with the aggressive Omicron, folks are still masked up in Toronto. Bars closed.

Have you visited the United States lately? Try visiting the Confederate Republic of Florida where everywhere is open and there are no rules smile

Gotta check their death count, says 63K, for 21 million population.

Canada 30k deaths for 38 million population.

In reply to Curtis I have Covid-19. Have both shots and got sick the day I was supposed to get my booster shot. It's been kicking my butt. Can't seem to shake this crap. Been off work sick since Dec 31st.
I guess if I was 30 years younger it may not have hit me so hard but who knows. It varies from person to person.

Yeah, plus the older you are, it seems the shot doesn't protect you for too long, if at all, since most of allyuh way-older folks' immune systems are shot to hell. Kinda paradoxical if you think about it when it comes to protection for old people but that's a commonly overlooked stat.

In reply to DukeStreet I've been trying to explain that to my sister who's 6 years older than me. Not to mention I've been referred to a cancer specialist by my doctor. Probably won't get in to see the specialist for another 6 months with all the Covid in Manitoba right now. Can't imagine what it would have been like if I hadn't had both shots. Being a smoker for over 40 years doesn't help either.

Yeah it sucks bro. I have older friends like that. A friend of mine is 52 years old but she has breast cancer, diabetes and liver issues and is literally no more than 80 pounds. Her doctor flat out told her if she catches Covid, she probably wouldn't even make it. I'm praying for you, my brother.

Walcs you were right. I tested Saturday and yesterday and both were negative. Suddenly it has become hell to get a PCR test in NorCal. Peeps suddenly getting scared. Had appt. for PCR lined up but by the time I could get to the front or appt. time they ran out. New appt. for another place same thing. Man between very upset people and traffic to get in and out they had to call the Highway patrol, seriously.

Heard a scientist on the radio saying that while assay and antigen tests can give false negatives once it shows a positive you definitely have Covid. I had nary a symptom except being a lil tired after climbing the stairs. Hopefully that's not a sign long-covid could hit.

Sorry you caught it bro, but try to support your immune system. Usual plenty rest, no stress, and supplement with vitamins C, D, and Zinc. Plenty hydration, avoid sugary and acidic drinks such as any carbonated beverage. Fresh lemon water, ginger tea.

Walcs you were right.

Well that's the first time since joining in 2008 that anyone has said that to me on here smile

I hope you were as happy to see those recent negative Covid test results as I was to see your post about them smile

Heard a scientist on the radio saying that while assay and antigen tests can give false negatives once it shows a positive you definitely have Covid.

One of the people I referenced earlier on this thread was exposed to Covid in Barbados on Christmas Eve, tested negative on a rapid antigen test three days later on December 27 before flying back home to Florida, and then tested positive on another rapid antigen test in her doctor's office in Florida on December 29. So she obviously flew on an airplane with a Covid infection.

The fellas tell me not only them but from all the other schools and started to laugh

When I asked, they said, “ dem fellas said their schools aren’t as close as we are and they feel welcome here. So we felt sorry for them and let them come”

I don't know how I missed this post, but I would have you know that there was a monthly Lodge School Old Scholars lime prior to the pandemic smile
