The Indian Premier League is the most popular T20 franchise league in the world and many cricketers across the globe dream about playing in it one day.
West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd is no different.
Speaking in a press conference today, Shepherd says the dream, which at this point is very close to reality, is still alive.
“It’s a great platform for any youngster. Many people dream to go to the IPL and I’m no different. It’s something that I’ve dreamed about for a very long time. My name was in the draft for the last three years so this year I’m definitely looking forward to it,” he said.

They should go straight to India then before West Indies administrations and governments pump millions into their development with out tangible ROI

I dont know a counter to that argument
I also believe that in a game like cricket were you can be a hot commodity for a year or 2 and then nothing the next, maximizing your income is vital
This really does show the rock and a hard place the west indies is in

Good. Now tell that to all the UWI, UG, etc. graduates in North America, Europe, everywhere else except in the countries where they were educated.
BTW, you want to talk about ROI? Compare the cost of training a doctor, engineer, or post-grad to the cost of (government-funded) training of an U-23 cricketer.

Good luck to him.
One thing I'd like to see is the likes of Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, Keemo Paul and Odean Brown work on their bowling. These guys are quickly becoming 'batting' all-rounders.

the seasoned professionals are doing the same....thus, youngsters are being marginalized in the current WI team.

from the generation I'm from, it's weird when a young upcoming West Indian cricketer says things like that

Yes it is strange to hear that from a man actually in WI colours but I appreciate his honesty. It means that administrators know that they should groom a replacement player as his intention is to play club cricket rather than focus on international cricket. Forewarned is forearmed

Come on
A man is offered a Government job from his uncles sister-in-laws friend
He takes it.
He has a chance to make it at Apple or Google or Exxon or Amazon
Let him go
I know the fellas and their families in the government jobs might not want this mercenary back in a few years when he wants to contribute but the man has to fix himself and his family
