I am a bit surprised at how slow the 400 meter times were, Shaunae's time in particular. A big WOW for the javelin results. The 200m women's race was as expected. The female hurdles is seriously competitive.
In reply to NHu
The conditions were very windy. They were so windy the pole vault was postponed.

Kevona Davis just dropped a 10.95 in the heats at the Big 12 championship. Its about time. Love her from champs days. Nathalia Whyte went under 11 a few days ago.
In reply to nitro
They're supposed to time how fast she can run the 100m, not roll a blunt.
PS: The only thing Peejay licking is TranniStar, but that's a whole other show, like Jerry (I think) use to say.
In reply to nitro
Says Justin Gatlin. That source lacks credibility.
He's talking about hand timing anyway, which is extremely flawed.

Great to see Jamaica holding it down in the hurdles. That's been the most consistent form of events for both men and women. I want to see more effort from the men in the 100/200m. Besides the 80s, there has been a drought from since 2015 up until now in the sprints for men.

much better performance from weedcarri. As i said, Brianna doesnt have that 4th spot on lock. Hopefully Kevona isnt on fumes by the time trials comes along. As i said during the olympics, Brianna will soon have to decide is Ato can get her better.
Bwiy Natoya, our best hope since Marilyn Nueville but just doesn't have it. At least she has shown JA young girls that distance can be tackled and ultimately conquered

Akeem Blake dropped a 9.92 at a small meet today. Good for him. He beat Yohan about a month or two ago at one of the JAAA meet. He has been improving and its nice to see
So at the meet at JC yesterday, Kemar Bailey Cole ran the prelims of the 100 but didnt turn up for the finals. Not surprised
In reply to mikesiva
Forgot, on to watching replays now, man you're a God-send. Hoping Tajay can sort everthing out 'on time'
In reply to mikesiva
Yohan and Akeem Blake are having good seasons. Bailey Cole looks like he may force them to make an honest effort to be top 3. I don't see anyone else getting in there. The relay team is shaping up nicely.
Good run by A Blake. The pundits were expecting it.nSorry I cannot be at Nat Snr Champs this year.
In reply to mikesiva
Wharholm DNF and Hyde continues to jump over the hurdles.
In reply to Headley
i expect oblique will win with Akeem second and Yohan third. Akeem has already beaten Yohan earlier this year i agree that it is unlikely that someone else can get past those three.
in regards to KBC, i just find him fickle. flatters to deceive. i am sure his supporters will point to his injuries.
On a totally different matter, do you remember i said a couple years ago Serena Cole is a boss and if she wasnt at Edwin Allen she would be a bigger star? At the JC meet she dropped a 11.17. barely edged by Tina in 11.15. that is apparently after she had made 2 jumps in the long jump. And Dejour Russell won the hurdles. Was kind of wondering what happened to him.
In reply to rudebway
Tough business. You have to give the athletes a lot of leeway. I was told he had chikungunya. That can mess you up for years.
Yes Serena will explode after she leaves Edwin. At Carifta Trials it was the same thing Tina just managed to beat her in 100m trials but she was entered in the long jump where she did 6.15m. It's obvious the twins are being kept together as far as possible.
I think Orlando Bennett won and Dejour came second.

Brave call Bro.
In reply to Dukes
i am a big Elaine fan but she hasn't looked "right" all season. i said that a couple months ago from she did the 22.5 or so at one of the meets in Jamaica. Apparently she is dealing with some shoulder issues. But she has another month to be in peak form for the WC.
the rush for that fourth spot will be hot. Kemba Nelson, Briania Williams, Nathalia Whyte
Dukes, the thing with Shelly's runs in Kenya and Paris is that those tracks are not known for exceptionally fast times. Elaine's Eugene 10.54 is on perhaps the fastest track in the sport and she was in her ackee. Of course, she could turn up at Trials with a surprise as she did last time. But, as Rudie says; she doesn't seem to be in her ackee right now.

Silesia Diamond League on Aug 6
"The second-fastest woman ever at 200 metres, Shericka Jackson, will face Shaunae Miller-Uibo on 6 August in the Silesian Stadium....What we already know is that the 400 metres flat will be a Eugene re-match between Michael Norman and Kirani James, the newly crowned world champion and runner-up. A similar case is the men's 100 metres with the amazing Fred Kerley and Trayvon Bromell, while the champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will be taking part in the women's race."
Unsurprisingly, some athletes choosing to skip the Commonwealth Games.

Oh no. Was looking for a 10.50 from Shelly
In reply to nitro
.
i was looking for a wicked performance from Elaine. Hopefully she runs in Belgium next week. 10.50 is pointless. it needs to be 10.48. that slight differrence might be just a nipple, but 10.48 is what we need, not 10.50
in other news from the department of redundancy, Noah Lyles is a bad mother

Broadbell defeated Grant Hollaway in the mens 110 hurdles. impressive. that will do alot for his confidence

Lyles going from strength to strength. I don't know what to make of Knighton, though.
Really pleased for Broadbell!

Just because you're young, it doesn't mean you're going to automatically improve with age. Track and field athletics is littered with promising young athletes who don't make the step up. So, I stand by what I said. I still don't know what to make of Knighton yet.
Remember Jenna Prandini? She was the hot, young thing when she came out of the NCAAs. But she's not progressed. The same may be true of Knighton, if he doesn't find a way of generating more speed in the final 100m. That's the next stage he needs to work on. It's not guaranteed he will succeed.
