CRICKET West Indies (CWI) lead selector Desmond Haynes said former West Indies One Day International (ODI) captain Kieron Pollard will be missed but believes there is enough talent in the team to fill the void left by the all-rounder.

The CWI selection panel announced on Monday the West Indies senior men’s squad for the upcoming ODI tours of The Netherlands and Pakistan.

The West Indies will visit the Netherlands for three ODIs on May 31, June 2, and 4, followed by another three ODIs on June 8, 10, and 12 in Pakistan.

Haynes, speaking to journalists on Zoom on Monday, said, "I believe (we have others to fill the void). When you look at Pollard's contribution both on and off the field it is not something that we are going to take lightly. He will be missed, but I think people like Rovman Powell, you've got Kyle Mayers, you've got Romario Shepherd and even Akeal (Hosein) playing in the middle there who can bat a little bit and bowl. I think we've got a lot of all-rounders in there and even though we are going to miss Pollard I believe we've got enough there that can do the job for us."

The next move for Dessie is politics, he is a diplomat.

Darren Bravo and Roston Chase have been overlooked.

Not dropped but overlooked

Evin Lewis was not considered for selection after failing to meet CWI’s fitness criteria

BTW is Evin Lewis injured or failed a test...and when did he fail a test?

Deesie come clean on ODEAN,.,.....

He answered the question asked, but to answer for Dessie, he will say only 15 players can be selected, and every fan has a player he would like to see selected.

IPL is sub standard franchise cricket.... controlled by bookies.....generating billions..... can't be yardstick for selection of international squad....even BCCI don't select players solely on the basis of IPL performance....Ranji Trophy, Mushtaq trophy, Challenges trophy....but irony, West Indies squad selected on the basis of IPL....

I am glad you said it, I always see Stanford using others money, when I watch the IPL.
Bigb may retire this year, Narine and Pollard maybe overlook next IPL.

..ODEAN Smith played 5 matches, scored 144 runs, 36 average, 192 strike rate, 6 wks, 20 average, 5 economy... An impact player...can bowl 140 km/ hr....Sherman Lewis,Seales or Shepherd recent stats much inferior to Odean....Simply, Dessie should explain Odean exclusion reason, so that the player should understand his shortcomings, rectify it and try to make comeback.....or his exclusion is for reasons beyond performance..... every fan of West Indies cricket rather than Odean fan,, has right to know....

.but irony, West Indies squad selected on the basis of IPL....

About a month ago Phil Simmons was talking about the camp he had in Antigua....at that time he also said they were monitoring some other guys in the IPL

CWI officially opened a window for WI players to play in IPL.

Why you think they could give Holder an official rest to manage his workload... after playing in franchise cricket

On the other hand....India has banned its players from playing in any other franchise than IPL.

considering that pollard did the bare minimum in wi colors that void could have been filled by any any club cricketer in the region
