Car crash - real sad
TRIUMPHANT captain Ricky Ponting was allegedly "shouldered" by a Barbados police officer as the Australians celebrated their World Cup victory on Kensington Oval.
A week after the Australians created history by winning their third consecutive World Cup, details have emerged of the incident when the squad tried to perform their victory song a few hours after their 53-run win over Sri Lanka.
It is believed the players were on the centre wicket when local police, two of whom were carrying machine guns, ordered them from the playing field.
The officer in charge, who was described by eyewitnesses as overly aggressive and forceful, was not prepared to listen when Ponting asked that his team be left for two minutes to sing the song. The officer demanded the team and its support staff leave the ground immediately.
The officer then allegedly used his shoulder to bump into Ponting and became more agitated. When the players stepped forward to protect their skipper, they were warned they were at risk of being arrested.
It is believed all-rounder Andrew Symonds intervened and helped defuse the situation by suggesting the team call it a night.
Another alleged incident involved Symonds and some teammates at a nightclub. A tourist dressed in an Australian supporter's shirt grabbed Symonds in a headlock while a friend stood by with a camera.
It appeared as if the pair wanted Symonds to react in a way that would create controversy, but the all-rounder instead left the club.
Wow. Another one.
RIP
I'm really sorry to read this. He was Australia's first black player. Condolences to his family.

RIP Roy
only scratched the surface of what he could have achieved with his talent but he made his mark with some memorable limited overs performances
In reply to doosra
Sad indeed. RIP Roy!
Sorry to hear. Condolences to the family.
A talent that let his demons overshadow what he could achieve. On his path of self destruction always thought he would be the hands of his own demise. Well he is at peace now.

An observer of human behaviour.
Condolences to the family.
Not nice at all hearing especially young ones gone too soon.
Hope we don't hear another cricketer gone anytime soon
RIP to a misunderstood good guy. I was curious as to the vehicle involved as it was a rollover, just saw a picture and it's very clear now, it was a 4x4 utility style LandCruiser pickup very popular in Australia Asia Africa etc, great for the trails, bush and outback etc, but not the best on the roads, just as most 4x4 pickups you gotta drive those things with that in mind,so sad.
Such vehicles are very popular in T&T and I cringe when I see young ladies and inexperienced young men driving them here, in the rain etc they can be very unforgiving, especially unladen, they were designed for load and when empty especially the backs are light and unstable .

I think he was transporting animals, according to one of the reports, so that may have contributed to the accident!
In reply to Overthrow
from your first response it suggests that you observe more than humans. It is apparent that you can also see demons and life after death.

Young or Old.

This one rocked me...I readily admit...
I honestly admired this man...I saw him as the time at the Epitome and Embodied representation of Cricket Australias dominance back in 2007...
He looked like THOR
and was more athletic and imposing that almost everyone else playing the game.
Truly saddened...
Horrible way to go... too soon.
Deepest condolences to his Family ...and the Aussies...
Wow...I think I have lost count now...Ozzie getting it rough over the past few months...
Laras tweet was indeed heartbreaking as well.

Just back from TT after not being there for a couple of years and I noticed the same thing. Pickups are working vehicles but they drive them like sportscars on the highways.
Seems like Andrew Symonds lived life on his terms. Kudos to him for that! Not many can say the same.
His demise is sad.
RIP
