Good result. We need to cap that GK vs Mexico in March 2023. He is perfect for Hall system.
In reply to nitro
Agree. He commanded his area very well
Chad James had a decent cameo the striker Clarke looked good
Tyler Roberts was Jamaicas best player overall
In reply to FanAttick
When the second penalty was awarded and Ximines took the ball the look on Clarke's face was priceless.
A J'can would say, "Yuh musse mad".
Clarke demanded the ball and took it out of Ximines hands. Captain Pearson was smart enough to let him keep it.
It led to a very well taken penalty by Clarke.

Massive upset ,
10 man Cuba beats Canada 1-0
Cuba goalkeeper red carded. Striker had to go in the goal for the last 25 minutes
In reply to FanAttick
Cubaaaa!!
Canada needed snow.

Honduras 3, Antigua and Barbuda 0
Disgraceful pitch conditions
pitch was a lake due to a torrential downpour
In reply to FanAttick
I was wondering why Lembisaka was missing at LB. He is apparently inured. Yes, Tyler Roberts was impressive but not surprised given his stats:

The young Titties were quite impressive
Their # 7 scored a brilliant individual goal
NOT impressed with any of the Caribbean teams in this tournament. The future of Caribbean football looks bleak
In reply to FanAttick
Yeah, young T&T has potential. The rain cut their momentum.
In reply to nitro
Mexico 8, Suriname 0
In reply to FanAttick
That is a surprise. I expected better from Suriname.
USA, Panama and Mexico look impressive.
In reply to problemjay
Caribbean countries do not spend enough on developing players and infrastruture. They want to develop players while they compete at this level and expect success.
Another issue is that they do not plan long term and select the best possible players to reach world cups which bring money, sponsorships and lucrative friendlies. These are great sources of funding to develop local football.
They fear that players from the diaspora will replace locally born players. They dont realize that if half a million people living overseas can produce top quality players then surely millions at home, being equipped with the tools to succeed can produce more. One only needs to look at Track and Field. The difference is the cost for developing football is much higher.
In reply to nitro
The Mexicans were up 5-0 at the half and coasted through the 2nd half
The Surinamese missed a couple of clear cut chances to get on the scoresheet
I liked what I saw from the young Titties and even Antigua and Barbuda- augurs well for the future tonight the young Reggae Boyz will be in action vs Honduras Hopefully the coach will put the best team on the park to start .
In reply to FanAttick
Is it normal for coaches of club teams to be national coaches simultaneously?
In reply to nitro
No. Its not but this is Jamaica ..
USA 2, Canada 2
In reply to nitro
Disaster for the Reggae Boyz
Honduras 5, Jamaica 0
We need a proper coach
Pearson and Ximines arent ready..overhyped schoolboy amateurs
In reply to FanAttick
Hopefully this will put an end to the quota system.
In reply to nitro
On the contrary dont be surprised if the corrupt JFF doubles down on the quota system and blames too many foreigners for the debacle .
As I said before, ALL Caribbean teams are playing poor football. And this is the norm for some years now
In reply to FanAttick
A question is being asked if the team has the proper studs for the muddy fields they are playing on.
In reply to nitro
Good question
MEXICO 5 TT 0,bring on Bangladesh,India or even Pakistan.
In reply to granite
The young Titties looked good for the 1st 25 minutes
.people are saying that the pitch was like a pig pen..
In reply to FanAttick
I read a bit by a Jamaican supporter and he reckons that the Ref was definitely calling lots of fouls by the Tit players against the Mexicans, and not doing the same against the Mexicans. He also said that the Mexicans were stronger and fitter, although that shouldn't be an excuse,he also said that the young Reggaeboyz suffered at the hands of the Ref just as the Tits did.I have felt this way for many years,I have seen Jamaica,Trinidad and Haiti suffer some gross decisions over the years. We should leave CONCACAF,and form our own Union, pure West Indians, still part of FIFA.
Jamaica with a nice looking early goal against Antigua and Barbuda
In reply to bdaTryangle
Jamaica 2, Antigua and Barbuda 0 (FT)
A mostly local based Jamaican team can beat Caribbean teams...not Central and North America.
We had the opportunity to build a superb U20 team but fack it up as usual.
In reply to nitro
T&T 3, Suriname 0
Congrats to the young Titties
They face Costa Rica tomorrow in the round of 16..I think they have a good chance
Jamaica will play Haiti on Sunday
this will be a tough game for the Reggae Boyz
In reply to FanAttick
Yeah. T&T looking good for an upset of the Ticos.
In reply to FanAttick
Were we expecting too much of the U20 given our ranking?
Concacaf Men U20 Ranking going into the 2022 tournament.

Mexico 2nd ranked
Panama 3rd ranked
Honduras (host) 4th ranked
Costa Rica 5th ranked

Trinidad and Tobago 10th ranked
Guatemala 11th ranked
Jamaica 12th ranked
Antigua and Barbuda 13th ranked
Suriname 14th ranked
Saint Kitts and Nevis 15th ranked
Aruba 16th ranked
In reply to granite
There is CFU, Caribbean Football Union but dey eh have as much clout since Jack left de scene
In reply to nitro
I dont think we can put too much stock into rankings at that level
.these teams tend to play just a handful of matches except for the US, Mexico, Canada and a couple of Central American teams
In reply to FanAttick
Haiti is always tough.
However, they also just cobble together a team two weeks ago, and only appointed a coach three days before de tournament. And they have a very young team. They originally withdrew from the tournament, but then were forced by Concacaf/FIFA to participate.
Suriname was nothing serous for Trinidad. Today game against CR will be a better test for T&T.
And I agree with this Link Text
In reply to imusic
Tough luck to the young Titties. They played their worst match so far

In reply to FanAttick
Whew!
Thank you Haiti. You gave us this one.
Haiti has the making of a good CONCACAF team for 2026.
In reply to nitro
If this is the standard of Jamaicas football - we will struggle to make the 2026 World Cup
Wasnt impressed by a single player from Jamaicas team
maybe Clarke the forward and Clarke the Goalie
In reply to FanAttick
Not if we are going to continue with a broke JFF, technical committee members with conflict of interest and a quota system.
We have 5 prospects in the current England U21 team, 18 prospects in the EPLU23 league and the current EPL season will see at least 15 current and possible Reggae Boyz.
Yet, we have only 4 English based players in this U20 tournament and a team being coached by someone who coaches full time for a JPL team.

Credit to the Boyze, they have shown everybody what could be achieved with the right people in charge,we in the English speaking Caribbean must follow the example of the Spanish speaking Caribbean, and Central Americans, why are they always 2 steps in front, our system needs revamping, whatever we are doing is not enough. This was a golden chance for Yard with Mexico out, knockout time, anything can happen.I have to say TT surprised me because they did better than I thought they would, so i can say both Jam and TT especially Jamaica can be pleased with their performances.
In reply to FanAttick
Yeah, he is a character but I get the feeling he is very ill. I did not watch for long this morning but I felt for him when he said he WILL not live to see the '26 world cup.
In reply to nitro
Yeah. Hes been battling what appears to be serious medical issues for a while
in and out of UWI hospital
In reply to FanAttick
Nuff respect for him.
In reply to granite
Spanish speaking countries tend to have a football culture. I don't think the English speaking Caribbean have it so much.
Parents foot the bill to fly the team home. Thank God for the Diaspora.
Bless Up to the Marley family who are funding the Reggae Girlz. Watch the wutliss JFF and Fluffy Nuffy try tek credit when they qualify.
In reply to nitro
I'm guessing it's something along the lines of:
Central America - football by far the #1 sport
Spanish (and Dutch to an extent) Caribbean - football v baseball
English Caribbean - football v cricket (and Jamaica it's T&F)
So Central America may have way more resources and general passion (including professional clubs and sponsorship), and the rest of us have to rely more on drive and desire.
That said, when I or others post here on Nations League, etc, it doesn't get a fraction of the interest that Premier League does. We like European clubs way more than the local game. Not a soul blinked when Russell Latapy quit Barbados, for example. It is what it is.
In reply to bdaTryangle
Lack of self-belief. We settle for school boy rivalry. In Jamaica we settled for bronze at the Olympics until professionalism in the form of MVP and Racers track clubs came along. We need a similar revolution in football.
Until then we need to fix the finances of the JFF, have proper leaders such as Chris Williams and Chris Dehring in charge of it. Select the top available players, even if they were born in Mars of Jamaican parentage. No quota system.
Sorry young man but that was funny as hell.

Young Duncan Mckenzie apparently has signed with Football Club Graficar In Belgrade, Serbia. It is the 2nd tier but it should be better than the JPL.
In reply to nitro
Not necessarily..if we go by what happened to Tyreek Magee who has warmed the bench since moving to Eupen in Belgium
