Are you originally from the area ? Treasure Beach was one of my haunts back in the early eighties.

I also had a very good friend from Southfield - she died back in 2004. Imagine that her mum is still alive. I have two good friends from Treasure Beach.

I was so surprised to learn (some 30+ years ago) that the Barbecue was a Jamaican 'invention'. Saw the story featured in a Canadian produced documentary.

As a South St Best native there must be some good in you.
In reply to cricketmad
nitro is confused about his origin.
First, he was from the swamplands of the Georges Plain in Westmoreland, now he is from Southside in St. Elizabeth.
In reply to Drapsey
Born is different from lived. My pops was from Georges Plain. I lived in Westmoreland for about 15 years...well I am back but in the Capital of Casual.
In reply to cricketmad

In reply to nitro

In reply to Drapsey
Swamp lands? I do not think you know the area. Nitro says he is from GP but its really his father thats from GP. No self hating, Trump supporting, limited thinking, person come from GP
In reply to HumbleCalf
I thought Georges Plain was the place where all those rice 'paddies' are. They were known to be the biggest producers of pond-rice.
In reply to HumbleCalf
Breda Humble nitro is born again man .You are speaking of the old nitro.
In reply to Drapsey
Thought!
There WAS ONE small area (about 2 acres) where rice was planted...close to the main crossing. There was a lot more sugar cane than rice. Nowadays there is just a little area with sugar cane.

I was chitchatting with the old white lady at the counter..she asked me where Im from when I told her Jamaica..her face lit up..said she had been to the Yard several times and started listing all her favorite spots from Negril to Mobay to Ochie..when I was leaving I said Cool Runnings..she burst out laughing..said it was her favorite movie and that she watched it about a dozen times
