Thanks bro
Ive been a bit busy but will definitely catch up with the Brilliant Miss Bev
In reply to FanAttick
It's fabulous
What hit me on Sunday was the reality that Bev is now in her 80s and clearly had a mild stroke.
In reply to Chrissy
Oh wow! Father time! I mostly remember the beauty in Harder They Come. The Afroed or Head Wrap 1st. Lady and The Breakfast Club's Co-Host.
In reply to JayMor
As a kid I met her at a JBC outdoor broadcast at Westgate Plaza in Montego Bay. She was there with Jeff Dixon.
Did I say that I was awestruck? Fell in love immediately.
In reply to Drapsey
Jeff Dixon....?
JD ...sit back ...have a snack...crack a joke ....have a smoke ..... that Jeff Dixon...?
Bwooy Draps ....yuh ole like Busta and Norman to raass man .....
In reply to JohnBull
Came from good stock, JB.
In reply to Drapsey
Similar story here... Fair at Black River 1968 and I headed there with my Polaroid Land instant camera to make some quick money. JBC had sent Uriel Aldridge and Bev to cover it and, of course, I made my way close up to gawk and wish. (Didn't catch her there when I joined JBC but saw her several times on visit.)

I watched parts 1&2
Incredible
What an absolute Queen!
Bev was the engine driving Joshua..much like Michelle Obama
In reply to Drapsey
Yuh talking about Free-I?
On the day the great Tosh and Free-I met their tragic demise I was sitting with a sistren in KFC on Hope Road near Liguanea when the news broke
the sistren was a med student so we rushed up to UHWI just as the ambulances were bringing in the victims
I was able to gain access to witness the whole thing
sad, sad day - 9/11/1987
.
In reply to JohnBull how you know JD, history books?
In reply to FanAttick
I was visiting the Yard in 87 when that episode unfolded.
My in-laws knew Peter well, so it really was a sad period.
I recall growing up in the country when we couldn't wait for JD to come on in the evenings.
In reply to FanAttick
Dignity personified, me a tell yuh!
Yup, we've now seen parts 1 & 2, and easily enjoyed them. I think subsequent parts will make us less comfortable and have us chip two claat. As Sir P would say, tings gwine get spooky.
--Æ.
In reply to Drapsey
Peter was a cool guy, very approachable, we lived close by him in Ensom City, long after he was famous he would stop at the bus stop and give people a ride!
In reply to Drapsey
Hmmm, your use of 'evenings' there is in the Yardie context. School used to let out at 3:30 and me woulda bex if nutten keep we up; I wanted to get to my 6-transister radio to chune in Platter Parade on RJR with "your pal, Rad!" Yes, Radcliffe Butler was my favourite DJ, and only when me neva like a chune dat me woulda switch to Jeff Dixon on JBC. Those were JD's pre-Free-I days, of course. Great rivalry/competition back then between both stations with their respective hosts for the afternoon listeners.

'The Whip with the solid kick' was my favorite from that era!
I hope our. Weave head athletes would watch all of this
In reply to Chrissy
left the pickney them, remember this is dancehall generation.
In reply to FanAttick
I was just off Mona Road (Toronto Avenue)with two Peters and other friends playing dominoes - will never forget dat night.
All a unnuh jus a brimg so much nostalgia my eyes wet n red. My bro got to know Peter some through Basil 'Bagga' Brown.
But much more I remember my 1st transistor radio was a birthday present to listen cricket. I will never forget Peter's final show which was thankfully on home soil. Arena, opening act Skatalites then followed by Gregory. Imagine most members of his band lives out here now.
In reply to Chrissy
I can't believe how young Beverly is looking.
This is very well done.
//
I first saw her at a Sixth Form Association event in 1958.
It was impossible not to be captivated by those eyes.
//
In reply to Ewart
Hmmm! You should have put in a bid, Maas Ewie, you'd never know. I don't get the feeling she was a gold digger or particularly a ladder climber. A fine gal she was indeed and a beautiful lady she remains.
--Æ.
In reply to JayMor
Indeed!
But at the time my own eyes were fixed elsewhere.
//
In reply to Ewart
I get you, bro.

In reply to JayMor
The next thing I knew of her she was co-hosti9ng a morning programme with Desmond Chambers on JBC.

//
In reply to FanAttick
If you have it please do post
It.is very accurate so far and section 3 corroborates the written stuff n Michael's book Jamaica Struggle in the Periphery.
//
In reply to Ewart
I believe Part 4 will be out at the end of this week
Finally found time to watch. Riveting.Takes a serious Ooman to leave the man who converted her to an ideology because he felt he was forced to take a step back from its hard Orthodoxy
In reply to FanAttick
Alright! I will wait.

Part 4 of 4

In reply to FanAttick
How you got Part 4?
Fabulous. Still love yah Bev!
In reply to Chrissy
Im a Comrade in good standing yuh know
In reply to FanAttick
The media and Laborite propaganda brought down the Manley regime down without any doubt!
Moreover, the PNP center right was also not committed to the cause!
Now, the Laborites pulling from Manley's playbook while the PNP spinning around like a headless chicken!
In reply to XDFIX
Who financed dem.
I will repeat this many times until I die. 'Before the night of the eventide fire an M16, AR15, or any other semi-automatic rifles (except dem ole JDF Browning)had ever before fired in JA. The start of terrorism-grabbing and throwing back old, blind, destitute women back into the fire from whence they came. It was may more than financing propaganda.
In reply to Brerzerk
Yep - it was more than financing it. It was sheer terror.
This was great. Enjoyed watching all 4 parts.
My take is:
1. The woman is brilliant. Brilliance at times is the ability to take simple concepts and really bring them to life for all to see. For example when she says, a cent is not just a cent increase because for the mother who has 4 children, that's 4 cents increase.
2. I like her reflection on life when she asks, "what's the point", "does this make sense"
3. Love her honesty
Now a question for all you nice and decent people, you have NOTHING to say about her infidelity and her home wrecker behavior?
And for all ah you who were admiring her back in the day, she is now ready to play...if unnu tool still working.
In reply to FanAttick
Plenty thanks Fan! I could not get up. I watched this woman articulate her life with the two men she married and saw her strain to hold back tears.
It will be very helpful to me if I ever write another book on Jamaica.

I cannot wrap my head around: What could have cause DK to want to befriend his best friend & Boss's wife.
Or was it PNP culture - to share & share alike?
In reply to Ewart
There are more questions ... than answers???
In reply to HumbleCalf
The great ones, men and women, tend to have many sexual partners. It is in the elevated hormones that make them great!
In reply to HumbleCalf
I hope she did not leave out the time she spent at JBC
In reply to nitro
I understand the sentiment.
However there are 2 things to consider:
1. The other party's feelings (lets say do unto others as you would like do unto you).
2. Decency. Being a home wrecker lacks decency.
In the lady's case, number 1 does not apply since it sounds as if she may have mentioned to Joshua that she was out.
In reply to jahmekyah
She mentioned it in the first part...is there something juicy there to be told?
In reply to HumbleCalf Yes? nickname
dare not mentioned it here
In reply to Chrissy
Mih nuh understand DK ah-God-tall.
In reply to jahmekyah
In reply to Yadi
Yea, as always.
But as one who has never been too far from the action, both actual and by study, I believe we have got most of them.
This was a confessional in all its simplicity.
//
In reply to Ewart
One of the most interesting aspect of Part 4 is when she asked if her love life has to end at 80
it seems there may yet be another chapter to write
but Joshua and DKs shoes are massive to fill..she sets a high bar
In reply to HumbleCalf
tu entiendes
In reply to HumbleCalf
Bun Fi Bun.
Joshua never easy mi hear.
Heard a story that he sent one of his ministers overseas but the man returned early and found the Great Communicator in the swimming pool with the minister's beautiful wife.

I would say he did that man a favor
The man could go find a new hot thing
In reply to HumbleCalf
What sense would that make bro? Jamaican women give more bun than the men. Do you know the approximate 'jacket' rate is 30%.
That is why mi stop at two
In reply to nitro
: NEW YOUNG thing, without having to give up half, thats the benefit,
In reply to nitro
It wasn't a minister but advisor. Security actually stopped the man from entering his own home actually. Hint- she became his last wife.Bev was already separated when DK... I was surprised when on a doctor's visit I realized we shared the same Doc who was an NEC member and also served as Perm Sec once. Sure Chrissy n Ewart know who that is

We both grabbed the same things as main points
In reply to Brerzerk
Ok, kool.
I love the male responses to Bev's Uncensored documentary (and not just in the Bck Room).
Michael's myriad affairs are just part of life to many.
Gwan Bev - when dem start di horn, conduct di orchestra.
In reply to Brerzerk
I know dat and plenty more
In reply to Chrissy
Dr DK, the man, the mystery and the MOUNTAIN
In reply to Yadi
Watched it - he was a very good dentist and looked after nuff patients who had no money to ever pay him.
He was also a very good cricketer at JC.
Informal behavior - polygamy!
In reply to Chrissy
:lol
In reply to Brerzerk
Yes!

In reply to Ewart
Yuh sure it wasnt you
?
The name has a familiar ring
In reply to FanAttick
Fix di link but when I saw the name I stopped posting on the thread out of respect for the great Ewart!
In reply to FanAttick
OK. Got you.
But wasn't that old time story? Old firestick??
//
In reply to Ewart
As the saying goes old firestick easy fi ketch
In reply to Yadi
DK was already having a serious affair - it was not Bev who wrecked that home. What's more he did not leave the wife - she died.
In reply to Chrissy
DKs daughter Dawn(who I believe is deceased) was a student at Manchester in the 70s
In reply to Chrissy
So Beverleys acts was justified all around?
In reply to Da-Vincy
Di lady was living her life - I judge no one, but you do prove my point.
I consider myself a feminist and will defend women's rights so the quote 'If dem start the horn get the orchestra going' is to me funny as hell in every respect.
In reply to Da-Vincy
She confessed! The more poignant question is was DK's act justified?
