West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran believes the team is improving despite a fourth straight T20 international loss to open the series against New Zealand.
Following a difficult 4-1 series loss to top team India, the team narrowly lost its opening match against the Kiwis by 13 runs, thanks in large part to the late-innings heroics of Romario Shepherd and Odean Smith.
“I’m happy we are starting to find our template. We know scores above 175, 180 can be tricky for us but we can see that we are actually starting to bat deep,” Pooran said, following the match.

Our problem is much deeper than we think. Lots of talk about Phil Simmons coaching team but what about captain Pooran, who seems to be allowing the coaches to captain the team? I maintain that when Pollard resigned we should have swallowed our pride and reinstate Jason Holder as white ball captain. Why is Thomas even on the team when we already have Pooran and King as wicket keepers? They dont even know where to bat the guy. Sometimes he bats #3, 4, 5 etc. No matter how many times Hope has failed in T20, he would have been a better fit since he could be a third opener or a #3 batter that others could bat around

Selectors must take most of the blame for where we are now. Where are they going with the likes of Paul, Thomas and Brooks ? Why not Campbell, Blackwood and Hope instead who could all bat as openers and/ or at # 3? I am not even sure if Walsh Jr is a good fit except maybe for his fielding. So all in all we have a lot of problems . Poor team selection, poor coaching staff, poor captaincy, poor batting, poor bowling and poor fielding

Was Pooran punch drunk when he uttered this dross? How is the team improving and the margin of each loss seems to grow? In the 1st t20 match we lost by 13 runs. In the 2nd t20 we lost by 90 runs. How is that an improvement? Come on EOS, wake up!

This is borderline insanity, am I dreaming, is this guy for real, just imagine what the rest of the world thinks when they hear these comments after every lost, or better yet is Pooran been programme to say these things after every defeat

The rest of the world is laughing. Teams now barely celebrate when they beat us unless it is a fellow minnow. Beating the West Indies is just like another day at the office.
