Welcome to California
In reply to WI_cricfan
I've witnessed the slow, sometimes not so slow degradation of Oakland.
One sad tid-bit, it was in the 1st 3 cities to be scourged by
'The Crack Epidemic' of th e'80's; go figure. Berkeley is almost the same
too. People's park is beyond belief now. They've cleaned up the area by
Univ. Ave over-pass about 3 times already now Ashby-Shellmound on the border
of Berkeley/Emeryville stinks when you drive under the overpass. Imagine if
water and porter-potties weren't there. Some yrs ago I got to know a white
homeless Vietnam Vet who hanged out at a certain intersection. Although I knew
he'd buy a beer I still gave him a $1 and chatted with him some. One day I saw
only his buddy but not him and asked. Buddy said he died in his tent down the street
That was like 10yrs ago. What a country!!!!
But, Cali is way, way more than that. This is mostly about America.
