Day 1: Lunch Break
1:05 pm: Bad news from Telford folks: 'Oh dear. Umbrellas are popping up like mushrooms in what's left of the crowd, and the covers are coming back on ...'

2:20 pm: It's looking a lot better now. The rain is easing out and some blue skies have started to appear overhead. We could be in for some cricket later today. The covers are being removed as well.

Its very disappointing that football at grassroots level has been cancelled.
This is a different time, and kids could have worn black armbands. Achieves nothing through cancellations.

England's deciding Test against South Africa at the Kia Oval will resume as scheduled on Saturday following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Saturday will remain day three of a five-day Test, with the match not able to be extended to Tuesday.
Heavy odds on the draw!

They should play until Monday and then, if need be, invite the South Africans back next summer to finish the match.

All cricket in England is set to resume from Saturday, September 10 after the games were stopped on Friday due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. This includes the resumption of the third Test between England and South Africa, which had its first day washed out due to rain after the toss. The first T20I between England Women and India Women is also set to take place in Bristol on Saturday.
Saturday will be Day 3 of the third and final Test, which effectively makes it three-day encounter. England had won the toss and opted to field before rain ruined the entire first day.

They have made a mockery of sports, seeing the cricket is resuming today. I'm sure the queen would not want that.
So, how will the stat reflect on this test? The 1st day was lost to rain and the 2nd day to queen?

All cricket to resume is a nonsense headline as the amateur season ended last weekend.
Most if not all major tournaments had their finals day in the past 2 weeks.
Just say you want to finish the damn test match

Marco Jansen to Root, out Caught by Keegan Petersen!! Edged and gone! Jansen strikes in the first over after Tea. It's the big fish! Fullish delivery wide of off at 137kph, Root gets low and flashes his bat hard to flay it through point. The ball flies off the outside edge and Peterse takes a sharp catch to his right at third slip. It was travelling at a quick pace and Petersen showed superb reflexes to snaffle with both hands. England three down and Jansen has accounted for all of them.

Marco Jansen to Harry Brook, out Caught by Rabada!! Holed out! The debutant perishes playing an aerial shot. Short delivery, Harry Brook gets inside the line to pull and has no intentions to play it along the ground. Rabada moves to his left from fine leg to gobble it up. Another wicket immediately after a break. Wicket number four for Jansen!

Nortje to Stokes, out Caught by Sarel Erwee!! Nortje has his man! Elgar can smile now. Fullish out-seamer outside off, Stokes stays leg-side of the ball and throws his bat for a booming drive. Gets a thick outside edge that goes straight into Erwee's hands at first slip. England have lost half their side.
Stokes c Sarel Erwee b Nortje 6(9) [4s-1]
27.4
Rabada to Ollie Pope, out Caught by Verreynne!! The set batsman is gone as well. Short of a good length seaming away slightly outside off at 138kph, Pope could have let it go on line. But he fiddles his bat at it and outside-nicks it through to the keeper. Easy grab for the keeper.

A dominant session for the visitors, who have finished the session with their lead being 30. You'd argue that this was a perfect session - they came out with the ball and wrapped up England's final three wickets at the cost of just 4 runs. A maiden 5-wicket haul for Jansen, 4 wickets for Rabada and England's lead was limited to 40.

Now it's been confirmed that there's free entry at the Oval, I think I might head down there. Thought they might still charge £5 admission for adults just to keep out the riff-raff.
After that, I think I'll cross Vauxhall Bridge and have a walk in the city.
