Trinbago Knight Riders have won the toss and have opted to field

Narper 2022-09-10 13:36:30

Kieron Pollard:
We are going to bowl first. There is a bit of grass and we will see if we can get it to exploit. We are fine, last game the rain played a big factor. It is just a matter of getting that momentum now. We have to move on quickly and be ready for a strong team like jamaica.

Narper 2022-09-10 13:36:52

Rovman Powell:
TKR are one of the best teams in CPL and the guys are ready. The cricket has gone to a stage of matchups, there have been left handers batting and hence he (Allen) hasn't bowled much. But he will get his chance. We have one change.

In reply to Narper

Pollard must have the record of cappo winning most tosses.

He's afraid of batting first obsessed with chasing

Pitch Report:
It’s a brand new pitch, we have got a consistent cover of live, green grass. Expect the balls pitching in those areas to have some pace and bounce. There is also a bit of moisture so don’t expect pace straightaway. All in all, we’ve got the best cricketing wicket we can see in the Caribbean so expect some fireworks.

natty_forever 2022-09-10 13:56:50

Dew not a factor. TKR dead!

Narper 2022-09-10 13:59:58

It is a glorious day in St Lucia with the sun beating down. This is an early morning start and we might have some moisture in the surface. Let's see if the Trinbago Knight Riders get any purchase. Here come the umpires and players..

Brandon King and Kennar Lewis are at the crease.

Brandon King is on strike.

Rampaul to Brandon King, FOUR, width on offer and King does not miss out. He feeds on anything outside off, throws his bat and slashes it behind square on the off-side, beating third man comfortably
1.1
Rampaul to Brandon King, leg byes, FOUR, wrong line from Rampaul. Sliding onto the hips and though King does not connect with the glance, the ball deflects off the thigh pad and runs away to fine leg

Narper 2022-09-10 14:09:18

Gawn !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Rampee strikes

1.5
Rampaul to Kennar Lewis, out Caught by Tion Webster!! The Knight Riders have an early wicket. It is not the seam or swing that has brought about this wicket but the hard length. Back of a length delivery and Lewis had no room to play the pull, but he still goes for it and miscues it to deep square leg, Webster runs in and takes a good catch. The pressure was on Lewis and he needed a release shot.

Gawn !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3.1
Rampaul to Brandon King, out Caught by Seifert!! Needless! King was the in-form batter and he throws it away. This was not a wicket-taking delivery - short and outside off, King tries to fetch the pull but skies it straight up, Seifert runs forward and takes it reverse cup. There was a bit of extra bounce and that seemed to have played a part in inducing a miscue.

Brandon King c Seifert b Rampaul 7(7) [4s-1]

Narper 2022-09-10 14:20:16

Rovman Powell, right handed bat, comes to the crease

3.2
Rampaul to Powell, 2 runs, banged into the surface and Powell takes it on, pulls over mid-wicket and since it was not off the middle, just a brace

Thumb on scale weighted too much in favor of team winning toss.

Only a team with extra skill and power bats first and wins against teams set up like TKR

Dupavillon to Powell, FOUR, width on offer and Powell does not hold back on the drive, he goes hard and the outside edge flies over the slip cordon, Rampaul puts in the dive but it is not good enough to stop the boundary

Jangoo hit on the grill?

6.1
Shaaron Lewis to Jangoo, no run, whoa! That's a nasty delivery from Lewis. Short of length and it climbs awkwardly, Jangoo tries to fend it off the back foot but the ball keeps rising, goes past the bat/glove and smacks him on the helmet grille

Jangoo removes his helmet and walks away. He takes a breather as the physio runs out to conduct a mandatory concussion test. That ball really took him by surprise.

Windiesfan78 2022-09-10 14:35:20

In reply to sgtdjones

So far you are looking dangerous. Pooran just whispered something to Jangroo. Hopefully that should get the young man fired up!!!

Narper 2022-09-10 14:35:57

6.2
Shaaron Lewis to Jangoo, out Caught by Seifert!! Maiden CPL wicket for Shaaron Lewis. He's delighted and goes off on a Imran Tahir like celebratory run. He goes fuller after softening up Jangoo and gets the nick, the southpaw was tentative in coming forward and just has a nibble, it is a healthy edge and carries at a nice height for Seifert

Jangoo c Seifert b Shaaron Lewis 2(12)

Slower ball outside off, Powell picked it right out of the hand and smashed it straight back over Rampaul, once more clearing the rope easily. He then raises his bat and soaks in the applause

This was the off-break and Powell wanted to play the slog sweep, Narine had slowed it up and Powell was through the shot early, misses it completely and the ball crashes into the furniture. A fine knock from the Tallawahs skipper comes to an end but they would have wanted him to bat all the way.

Really happy with the performance today. I’ve been out with a bit of a shoulder niggle, so was just waiting to get my chance. I tried to just bash it in at a length. It was a good start from us, we kept the pressure on early. There was a good partnership afterwards, but with the batting we have- we’ve got some of the best power hitters in our middle order, we should have enough to chase this

Quicker from Imad Wasim, jamming in onto the pads, Webster digs it towards mid-wicket and tries to complete the single, but is well short of the non-striker's crease

Imad Wasim | Player of the Match:
It was a good wicket to bowl. We did well to get 154. They had a star studded batting line-up but we had a plan on how to bowl to them. Our target was to score 140+. We played well in the last game also but could not finish it off, St Lucia were better on that day.

Narper 2022-09-10 17:49:20

Kieron Pollard:
We haven't done well with the bat in the last few games, just need to get better all round performances. I think we conceded 20-25 runs too much at the death, that's where we let the game get away. It is disappointing to lose games, but we need to look at the positives, we've got a few home games now. Let's see what happens

Narper 2022-09-10 17:49:52

Rovman Powell:
There was talk of us not beating TKR in a long time. So we wanted to do that and we came out strong, especially after the powerplay. It is a bit difficult in the morning to bat with the ball nipping around. I knew if we could keep Sunil out of the game, we could score runs.

powen001 2022-09-10 18:10:21

In reply to Narper

I think you are right...AKEAL brings something to the vibe of the team in truth.

I was trying to see who is UNBALANCING the team but it may be the Missing pieces this time around more than who is actually in it.

Windiesfan78 2022-09-10 18:11:03

Pollard is not the player he used to be. This is the reason why he retired from international cricket, before CWI dropped him as captain. When last has Polly played a match winning innings. He has been poor batting wise for the Mumbai Indians and the same is happening for TKR. Getting big name players in a team doesn't guarantee success. Check the teams that are winning consistently, the captains are leading from the front. Tallawahs with Rovman Powell and Royals with David Miller.

Halliwell 2022-09-10 21:31:59

Polly is checking out now
Long career and all opportunities explored
Kids getting big now and it has been almost 2 decades of globetrotting
He can try to grab that spirit once more but I suspect life has gotten in the way…and rightly so.

Frenchie needs the competition to get better, Akiel had two seasons with TKR with Pouty sticking with him.
Frenchie needs that confidence and chances to improve.
