Star-studded TKR fade

Star-studded TKR fade

In their quest to get ahead of the DLS score against Royals, TKR suffered an irreparable collapse, which head coach Abhishek Nayar brushed off as an off day. However, even in their next game against Tallawahs, TKR collapsed to 97 for 8 in their pursuit of 154. It might not be panic stations yet for TKR, as they have played at least one game fewer than the other teams, but there are serious concerns around their batting.
Opening the batting, Sunil Narine has managed only scores of 6,7 and 0, and Tion Webster's transition from the regional level into Lendl Simmons' role at the CPL hasn't been smooth. The problems seep into the middle order as well: Nicholas Pooran, Pollard and Andre Russell are yet to fire like they can. To add to their woes, spin-bowling allrounder, Akeal Hosein, hasn't featured for them since he injured his groin in TKR's opening game on September 1.
As it stands, TKR also have the worst run-rate in the league and are at the bottom of the points table, with just one win in four games.

There's no stopping Barbados Royals

From managing all of three wins last season, Barbados Royals have rattled up five wins in five games this season and are the only unbeaten side in the tournament so far. Royals were particularly dominant against Trinbago Knight Riders in a rain-hit game. After punchy half-centuries from Kyle Mayers and captain David Miller carried them to 194 for 4, Oshane Thomas, the fast bowler, and Devon Thomas, who bowls part-time offspin, triggered a TKR collapse as Kieron Pollard's men lost seven wickets in the first seven overs of their chase. There would be no way back for TKR, despite the rain in Gros Islet.

I doubt Narps is in the least bit bothered. You have been far too successful in the past, I told you before, the glory days are OVER! Everyone is out to ensure that you will not be winning the CPL, at least not this year. The Royals will be lifting the trophy, we must avenge the ladies big grin!

Things went bad when they started off with 4 prong I never thought I'd see TKR do that .I feel they are good enough to get into the playoffs and if 2 of their top batsmen get going it could well change things, they are missing Hosein.

TKR is full of players that are no longer at the top of their game. Outside of Narine's bowling and the potential of Russell, Pollard is no longer the player he used to be. The opposition is no longer intimidated by his tactics because he doesn't add much to the score when batting. Hosein is a big miss for TKR, they are much weaker without him. Tomorrow God-willing, Royals shall show why the CPL trophy belongs in the cabinet next to the 6ixty trophy. Beating TKR in front of their home fans will make the victory so much sweeter. Expect the ground to be quiet when I share licks like peas.

"Potential of Russell"??? At this stage of his career? The best of Russell is way behind him. I agree generally with your comments that TKR is loaded with stars who have already started to diminish and the true stars who should be on the ascendancy such as Pooran and Hosein are not contributing as they should (understood about Hosein). Pooran has been outshone by Powell and Hety so far in this competition

The reason why I said potential is because Russell on his day is still a very dangerous batter. He played well in the 6ixty. Now that the CPL has started, he is not the same player and will be put in the pocket of the Royals' bowlers. lol

They fade like Pollard! Perhaps he was really the glue holding the team together and once he stopped performing, that was it!
