I am content just to read about Russell's exploits in T20 leagues. That is all it is really, league cricket. Nowhere near the standard of international cricket and neither is he. I felt when he was young that he had the potential to be the next super allrounder from the WI and possibly second only to Sobers but he chose his way and hopefully has got what he wanted from that way. His WI days are long done as far as I am concerned.

He chose a path and I’m sure was rewarded well during his journey. I don’t like it when these guys swing by three months before a global tournament about how playing for West Indies is their priority and how they want to play for the Caribbean people etc.
It’s a sham and I’m glad this new selector isn’t falling for it. Even Simmons called out Russell

are you speaking about Russell, don't ever use Russell and Sobers in the same sentence, Russell was never a good international player. his club cricket returns are avg in bowling and batting, he is an outstanding fielder. Nothing more.

Russell never had an impact in WC or international games, Samuels , Gayle and big Bravo had a greater impact in such games.

with the exception of marlon, all these guys were chased away by the CWI......the only board in the world that is stupid enough to exile their best players
