This gives the impression that they are sanctioned by the nations involved. In my opinion these lickit teams and their supporters should be forbidden from displaying national flags in any kind of promotional materials, apparel or advertising in fact the names of the countries should not be allowed to be used either

Should Lickit Club teams be allowed to co-opt National Flags
In reply to FanAttick
IF THEY WERE SERIOUS ABOUT franchise cricket, theyd have done that.
This was always about money and nothing else so import some foreigners, dilute the better team(s) and enrich the weaker ones with dem Trinis, but use national pride to drive the non-country teams
What flag is for guyanese Indians?
In reply to FanAttick
No.
These private franchise teams should have been named after the host city of their respective franchises. Ie. Georgetown Amazon Warriors, Port of Spain Knight Riders, Kingston Tallawahs etc. Just like in the IPL, Big Bash, and all the other domestic T20 t'ments.
Co-opt? Or coob?
Oh rass, ask Acid about Coob
In reply to Halliwell
Ask Mulla bin Emir.
In reply to SnoopDog
Would calling something POS or Kingston or Georgetown make any difference than Trinidad, Jamaica and Guyana?
You KNOW how these flag wavers behave.
In reply to Halliwell
Good point. But I think in the long run if they had done the city names it would have become less about rabid nationalism and more about "my team".
In reply to Halliwell
Trinis have Rag Wavers!
In reply to StumpCam
To de right...to de leff...right leff right leff!!
In reply to SnoopDog
By now San Fernando would have had a team
Skippered by Emrit
In reply to Halliwell
That's exactly it! If Sando wants a team they can't now go under the national banner because of TKR.
Or let's say, Albion in Berbice wants a team they can't because of GAW.
So franchise expansion within individual countries is completely foreclosed.
Like tennis players that have fans waving flags from the country of their origin?
Or they should be banned from doing so as well?
In reply to Halliwell
Co-opt is correct but there is a character limitation in the title on CCC
In reply to Halliwell
Oh rass, ask Acid about Coob

Franchise is the only way in the Caribbean to prevent T&T playing Guyana every year in the final
Well the supporters of traditional cricket are literally dying off, so once that crutch is gone, anything can happen.
In reply to imusic
Or they should be banned from doing so as well?
Individuals are free to do as they please
Im talking about clubs passing themselves off as countries
In reply to Halliwell
Emrit don't come from San Fernando,I think he is from Diego Martin.
In reply to granite
Great piece of fun fact there
The point was, Rayard Emrit is always the Trini B side mascot
The first side is the QPCC crew
In reply to FanAttick
Listen mate I am supporting Tallawahs from start of 2022 CPL,if i was I Trinidad I would get a Jamaican Flag and wave it.When I first saw the team I thought they will win this CPL.They have players that I think are winners,King,Amir,Allen,Smith,Powell and Jangoo who is got potential to be a very good T/20 player.I still hope to see TKR in the mix,but something is not right with them.
In reply to FanAttick
Ok.
Like the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Raptors?
Blue Jays
.Canadas team
Raptors
..We the north
Both franchises based in Toronto.
Both represent ALL of Canada. Complete with Canadian flags, Canadian national anthem played before every game (home and away mind you) etc.
That should be banned too?
In reply to FanAttick
There is absolutely NO EVIDENCE that you engaged your not inconsiderable intellect when you came up with this doosey.
Every one of the CPL teams names start with a country ...so its common sense that irrespective of it being a franchise its association with fans is COUNTRY..
Should two franchises eventually be based in one country then things may change...I cant see that happening as expansion would be to other countries.. who knows we can get CUBA REVOLUTIONARIES...!!!
In reply to imusic
Did the same happened, when a Baseball franchise was in Montreal and a Basketball team was in Vancouver?.

Ok Dr Guyana Amazon Junglist by the way - what percentage of the Amazon is in Mudland .Brazil should sue uunuu rass. Last I checked only the branches of two Amazon trees overhang Mudland territory
In reply to CITYBOY
New York has 2 Baseball teams, Mets and Yankees.
Why cant Guyana have 2 without being identified as different cities??
In reply to Halliwell
Emrit is from Tunapuna, not San Fernando. Tunapuna Tigers could be the team!
Oh my gosh the level of understanding in this forum
Where did I say damn Emrit is from blasted Sando
