Here are some qualities
I post this article because people have been talking about leadership and I get the impression that they know very little about it.I have been fortunate to be in a leadership position in several spheres of activity in my life.I have had some failures but those failures have educated me about what makes a good leader.

When you grow up in a setting where you see good leadership being displayed by your parents and other family members it is a tremendous help.When you really think about it, one would probably say leaders are made.It can be done in so many informal ways that you do not even realize that you are over time developing those leadership skills.

It’s funny how culture affects perceptions of leadership.
Authenticity, humility, credibility, empowerment, relationship building, constancy and consistency were explored but nowhere did the explanations touch on vulnerability or seeking consensus in consultation.
In France it’s weakness for a leader to admit he was wrong in a team setting. In the UK it’s totally acceptable. In China and Japan - forget it!
I love the explanation of empowerment though. Give persons the vision, then let them do what you hired them to do.

that millions of books have been written about leaderships speaks to its varied interpretations, enactments, etc.
some leaders have gotten results by leading with iron fists, some with soft gloves...
perhaps it's easier to talk about what does NOT make for a good leader / leadership
one of the 'leaders' I worked with not so long ago...actually, 2...they have what some would consider both good and bad qualities of leaders / leadership in equal measure
i mean just look at the sharp polarizing comments about the queen and the monarchy...you'd think it's people from 2 different worlds making these comments...and perhaps it is

That’s true. Traditional measure of success is…A or B or C
Results achieved the right way, with people treated with respect and whose lives outside of work are respected… as leadership evolves it must do so relative to the different and broader ways we now measure successful outcomes.

This is not at all removed from West Indies cricket.As a matter of fact it is why I posted the article because WI cricket is suffering from a leadership crisis.
another important aspect of leadership is the ability to pick a good team. and to correctly identify people with good leadership skills.
