As I stepped into my favorite JA cookshop, to order my favorite special - a small jerk chicken, with rice & peas, cabbage, & gravy pon de rice (curry chicken or goat, brown stew or oxtail gravy) I noticed a container with miniature Fried Bakes (a Guyneez thing)...they looked good & i said to myself, I have to try them. Found out that they are Fritters! Poupah, I grew up in the countryside & never knew of fritters...I don't think Guyneez know of or make them! You live & learn. Likkle more. big grin cool

Ps. I was embarrassed to ask what they were...it was a fella who ordered one after I was sitting & enjoying my meal...my back was towards the server & customer. I quickly put 2 & 2 together that the miniature fried bakes had to be the fritters!

In reply to doosra Good life? A lunch special - $6.52! Btw, why do Guyneez & Jewmaycans deal in pennies? Singh's Roti shop (Treeknee owned) charge in multiples of $.50! Latin Americans' Cookshops also charge in multiples of $.25 or $.50

big grin

In reply to StumpCam Essequibo River island of Leguan - unimproved dirt roads (prior to the 90s), rice farmlands, vegetables galore, coconuts (not as much as the neighboring island of Wakenaam), cows, sheep, goats, etc. A lil chookoochookoo post office & police station! Daiz it. Oh, can't forget, Viola cinema. Fool stop.
