Imagine legendary WI 4 prongs in T20
In reply to Castled
Imagine Sobers in 50 overs
In reply to Halliwell
Doan get me started!!!!!
In reply to Halliwell
imagine viv and greenidge in t20s.....probably have strike rates of 300. Viv's strike rate in tests against most countries is close to 70 which for years decades after him was unheard of
In reply to Jumpstart
Imagine Holding and Big Bird, Parick Patterson, Croft, Marshall, Roberts and Clarke with the luxury of putting their all into 4 overs
In reply to Dukes
This is why I get vex when men talk without thinking!!!
In reply to Castled
big bird would be a multimillionaire, holding too. Patterson might travel but he'd also take wickets as well. Roberts would make t20 bowling into a science that all the other bowlers would follow after he's gone
so if all these imaginations could become real, what would be the all-time WI T20 team?
Gayle
Richards
Sobers
Lara
Pollard
Russell
Narine
Ambrose
Garner
Holding
Pooran
??
In reply to Da-Vincy
not sure lara would prosper in t20s. He was never one to score his first 50 quickly....his second fifty sometimes used to take 20 or 30 balls but his first 50 was always very watchful.
In reply to Jumpstart
Lara what?
Man Lara in his prime woulda kill some of those spinners that causing others trouble
In reply to Da-Vincy
Pooran?
Evin Lewis scored more T20I runs than him in less matches with a better average and far superior strike rate with 2 tons.
In reply to Da-Vincy
Have you seen Gordon Greenidge bat? He invented the slog and reverse sweeps. GG was as destructive as Richards.
GG must be in lineup.
Pollard won't make the cut if he had to face chin music from 4 prong to get in. Gayle is in not Pooran.
In reply to Da-Vincy
no Collis King or Boyce
In reply to tc1
The Jamaicans Shot Gun Williams and Chang in the mix
In reply to doosra
that's true, but im saying he was extremely circumspect at the start. Case in point, when he made the hundred that shocked SA in the 2003 world cup opener, his first 50 took 78 balls......his next fifty from 50 - 100 took only 43 more. But he used to be very circumspect before going to slaughter bowlers.
In reply to Kay
We need a keeper. Hence Pooran.
Cant think of another keeper who would be a better batsman in this format. Clyde Walcott?
In reply to Castled
yeah.
In reply to Castled
Maybe Cammie Smith before Greenridge, was Gordon that destructive.
In reply to Da-Vincy
You need to go eat some more bread fruit. Pollard in front of Kanhai or Kalli ..
Anyway its your team
And no Lance ??
Def Walcott before Pooran because we are now learning the lessons that proper batsmen prosper in T20. I think Gayle, Russell, Bravo, Narine, Badree and perhaps Samuels of the immediate past current specialists.
In reply to Da-Vincy
Narine don't qualify to be in a WI team! Franchise, yes...but no WI!
you know why!
Not a mention for Freddo?
As brilliant test cricketers as he was I'm not sure that Ambi would have been outstanding T20 player. Maybe he could make the adjustment but in the 50 over game Ambi used to be to metronomic and would go for real runs at the death. Andy Roberts was more likely the pacer who could adjust his game to be a T20 specialist.
Collis King should be one of first names on sheet. But young Clive Lloyd should be up there too. He would probably have developed some Dw Bravo bowling skills as well.
What a nonsense!!!
When we picking the WI all time water polo team I guess Sobers and Ambi is first picks too
Look give me Sherfane Rutherford and his actual T20 titles over the Master Blaster any day!
what has Viv ever done in 20/20?
In reply to Halliwell
lol funny
Viv was striking at 90 in the 70s
that man would have been the original t20 king
In reply to doosra
Ah was there with you 10000% until yuh drap d killer would have line
In reply to Halliwell
Gayle
Walcott (wk)
Richards (c)
Sobers
Pollard
Russell
Bravo
Narine
Ambrose
Garner
Badree
Everyone in this team can bowl.
In reply to doosra
No Babu? The man was the inventor of strokes in test cricket.
In reply to Seechy
If everybody can bowl why the tail so long?
Ambi and Garner and Badree ent working for me
Marshall or Andy, and Badree, so I giving you another batsman pick.
Enter Marlon
This would be my first 7...the other 4
Gayle (opener)
Lara (Opener)
Viv
Sobers (alrounder)
Kanhai (keeper)
Garner
Ambrose
---------
another 4
In reply to Halliwell
Sobers blasted 6 sixes in an over first player to do so without field restrictions imagine Sobie in T20 power play after 6 overs score could be 200 without loss
In reply to Castled
It is a shame that the pitches after so much rain in the region still looks brown and uneven.
Sorry for the WC team. They will meet greener pitches with bounce and lift AND QUALITY SPINNERS galore.
