This is the end of a magnificent era for Trinidad's T 20 cricket. An era that produced some of the greatest T20 cricketers the world have produced. In addition to the great players, the T20 thinking about game plan and leadership was produced in Trinidad with the greatest exponent being Darren Ganga WHEN THE GAME WAS IN ITS INFANCY. Trinidad was the single greatest place where T20 cricket got its groove- the "so called cricket carnival."
Historians among us will recall Barbados impact on Test cricket from yesteryear for a comparison of how our little region can impact global industry and lead the world.
Every empire falls, and now it not a time to feel sad, but to celebrate what was achieved and to build upon that legacy.
It is very nice thing to see teams that have fared badly in our CPL move on up.

And your esteem "President" agrees as he and his ministers are all over TV talking about cricket carnival and that great musical instrument- the steel pan playing in the background.
In reply to Emir
The empire sold out to the IPL lock, stock and barrel.

Pollard's point about cwi having its own tournament is instructive
overseas owned franchises will look after their own interest and so if it is to be about wi cricket cwi must look after that

So is Pullfraud advocating for two T20 tournaments in the West Indies?
If thats the case it will only serve to eat more into the meagre amount of time allocated to the first class season.
In reply to SnoopDog
he's been advocating for that a while
i think the general feeling is that local players are not getting enough developmental time
well the truth is cwi not playing that much test cricket so they can organise their own t20 if they see it as a way to grow the game

The solution cant be more cowlashing.
You cant develop young cricketers on T20 cricket. All the dimwits calling for an end to Test and 4 day cricket dont seem to grasp the simple fact that all good players they watch in T20 cricket came out of first class cricket:
Anyways, lets see what the idiots at CWI come up with.
In reply to SnoopDog
True. All the good T20 players from the WI came out of FC cricket. But the fact that theyre not their or stopped is entirely the WICBs fault. Remember when Gayle, Sarwan and DJ Bravo were picked for the 2009 IPL and the WICB forced them to come back and play England in a return series two weeks after they had beaten the same opposition, making them play in a series that was arranged in weeks and not even on the FTP schedule for that year. The WICBs management of the cricket has made it so that the best players go to play in the leagues and the rest play in the FC tournament in the hope the could make a pittance from the money the WICB offers as salaries for international matches. Until the fix that, you wont see the likes of hetmeyer, Rutherford, Pooran and the orther new guys

Yeah. I honestly dont think the CWI going to do it because Pollard has been talking about a regional T20 tournament for the younger guys since last year, before and after the World Cup, so it might be up to individual boards to have their own competitions. I know TTCB used to have a Friends of cricket t20 tournament that created significant local interest. But the Pandemic put a hold on it and I dont know if their finances have recovered for them to put on a competition like that as yet.
