Former Cricket West Indies (CWI) president Dave Cameron has branded the player-centric approach employed by the incumbent administration as a failure, insisting it prioritizes the needs of a few players over those of the region.
Under the new administration, the cricketers, board and players association seem to enjoy a less acrimonious existence, but previous issues of players choosing to make themselves unavailable for the regional team, while continuing to take part in lucrative T20 leagues around the world has remained an issue.
“The Shallow-Skerritt experiment has failed, basically what that Shallow-Skerritt experiment did was it put the players ahead of the region and that is the challenge,” Cameron told the Mason and Guest radio program.

maybe he could do that with staff and Dunn's river waterfalls but cricketers are professional sportsmen.....just like doctors, engineers, lawyers etc. You can't deal with them like 5 year olds....they'll simply leave as they have done and seek opportunities elsewhere. You can't for example, cut a west indian player's salary so you can give a contract to a player who will never bee good enough to represent the west indies.

exactly...the wi have made significant improvements in the test arena. that series in bangladesh, we would have probably lost. Skerrit's teams were dealing with the fact that cameron stripped the WI team bare because he fell out with the obviously talented and more consistent players. When England came here in 2019, one player averaged over 40, Darren Bravo, and he was coming off a two year exile caused by a verbal scuffle with de big idiot(his words not mine).

Cameron going nowhere......he`d have to get the support of the JCA, Leewards,Windward and the TTCB. Only board I could see voting for him is the BCA. The administration that supported hi, last year at the GCB lost the election last year.

I dont usually agree with the politics of Dave Cameron but this time I agree with him that the Skerrit/ Shallow experiment has failed and failed miserably! However I still prefer the Skerrit/ Shallow failure than the Cameron / Nanthan experiment that still has not answered the fast bowling questions of Michael Holding. So maybe Mr Cameron might want to tell us if CWI under the Cameron/ Nanthan experiment was used as a conduit to facilitate and wash dirty laundry

Cameron has a point but he needs to understand that the decline started under his watch and he still has not told us how and why his then deputy Emmanuel Nanthan, was allegedly allowed to use CWI to funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars into Dominica cricket Association. We need straight answers Mr Cameron
