Celebration!!!! A breakthrough....152 for 1... Seales the wicket-taker......

Osmond 2022-11-23 07:27:53

In reply to Onionman0

We took another; Mayers the wicket taker this time.
I thought he should have bowled him earlier; not because he took a wicket, but we really don't want Roache bowling too many spells.

Onionman0 2022-11-23 07:40:26

Reifer got one.....190 for 3....

Osmond 2022-11-23 07:54:15

Funny, I was about to post that you can't even get Reifer to eat up some overs. And he takes a wicket.

big grin, we just need to get the last wicket then score 400+ runs. Paint to get a century and Tage a fighting knock of 75 or so runs. PM XI fight back and manage to set us a total of 200 runs to win. Early scare in the final innings but W.I hold on for the draw lol.

This is difficult because it seems batting at night with a pink ball takes more wickets.

In reply to B16JP587S

After such a promising start, the same issues occur. From 92/0 to 151/4. Tage is playing well and since Paint got out, the other batters aren't standing up to the test. If we are to get close to 300 runs, Tage is going to have to bat through the innings.

Pacy 2022-11-24 08:46:01

Century for Tage. Good start to the kid

Just saw Meyers LBW and it was a bad decision

Windiesfan78 2022-11-24 09:16:01

That lbw decision was a poor one by the umpire. He was hit outside the line. Even the commentator wasn't sure about it.

Windiesfan78 2022-11-24 09:25:08

203/5, finally past 200 runs. We need to get as close to 300 as possible. Any major lead for the PM XI and it is curtains for our lads.

hubert 2022-11-24 10:15:20

Tage falls for 119 in last over of the day off the 2nd new ball. WI 234/7
Fabulous knock 12 x 4 and 1six off 293 balls ,,
Fell top edging a pull off the left arm quick Paris.
Tage will debut next week in the Test at Perth. I think he will do well on the evidence of this knock.
This is no practice game but a real FC match against a second string Aussie attacj that includes to Test bowlersm, Neser a right arm quick and left arm spinner Agar. Also has an impressive young offie Murphy who is just 22 amd looks a successor to Lyon.
The commies including Mike Hissey were impressed by Tage's confidence, composure and technique and I saw some pleasing shots both sides of the wicket from him and he did not look like getting out.
I left to sleep at the 1st break and returned to see Chase at wicket with Tage on 105, I wonder why Reifer did not bat as Joseph came in after Chase fell to the 2nd new ball. So I cannot comment on others as I only saw Paint,Tage ,Chase and Joseph at the wiclet and Brathwite also looked solid before the first breaj in an umbroken stand then.
Tage got 'look' at Starc as Paris is very similar to him and is a seasoned bowler too at FC level.
That's it for me as WC football takes precedence now.

I think you've highlighted a good point.

I feel that these initial 16 overs were wasted slightly. A more positive start to get to 60-75 for little damage would have been more beneficial towards chasing down this total tomorrow.

3 an over needed tomorrow though, not easy on day 4, but it would need contributions from Bonner, Thomas, and Mayers. Kraigg and Tage certainly can't do it on their own.

I really don't know what he is doing, it is hard to say what he is doing.
No movement at all in his batting.
I will not pick him for the first test, he is just not ready to play against Australia.
That was a waste of an inning.

88 runs needed from 31 overs available in the last session. Effectively 4 wickets in hand and the new ball round the corner.

He was announced as player of the match. A hundred and a half century in the haters' skins.

Windiesfan78 2022-11-26 10:58:11

In reply to Chrissy

I get you, we could have won that match, all that was needed was a bit more impetus from the top order. Good to see Thomas get a half century as well. I'm still not that convinced with Reifer but if he works hard, he has the ability to be a decent allrounder. Only time will tell.

Agree re Thomas. Disagree re haters - men have to earn their places. Demanding excellence is not hate.

solidrock 2022-11-26 12:44:35

Glad we were able to hold on. Special commendations to the whole team and it must have been hard for Reifer and the W/K.

True, demanding excellence is not hate but it was ridiculous how some were trolling Tage because he only scored 4 runs in his first game. This is the reason why I am happy that he silenced the critics in this game. He will certainly have sterner tests but thus far, he appears to have the mental fortitude and skill required to succeed.

I agree, however I think we could have won it if we had more wickets in hand. A draw is better than a loss any day so I will take it big grin.
