HEADLINE: 'Go back for Pybus' - former Windies bowler believes CWI should consider shock approach for former coach

Former West Indies fast bowler Daren Powell believes serious consideration should be given to attempting to retrieve the team's former coach Richard Pybus for the recently vacated position of head coach.

Pybus was sacked in controversial circumstances four years ago as part of a raft of changes made by the then-incoming Cricket West Indies administration of president Ricky Skerritt and his vice president Kishore Shallow.

"Why can't we go back for him (Pybus) he was doing a good job and we have tried another way and it seems as if things didn't go down the right road," Powell told the Mason and Guest radio program.

I don’t even think pybus would want the job especially after how he was treated

velo 2023-01-09 15:43:48

why would he want the job again especially under the same administration that sacked him no foreign coach wants to be part of west indies dysfunction

Brerzerk 2023-01-09 15:52:23

Rather why would CWI want to re-employ a man who sorely damaged our cricket making exec decisions he was not authorized to make (based on his job title) such as calling off The Tour of India?
Chain de roung wi brain or wha? No wonder they still look at us with scorn even while still eating out all our corn. Dem Crazy, Dem Crazy, Dem Crazy Baldheads....whaaaaaaahahahaha

Thank you, thank you and thank you.......leave trash alone. WI are desperate but we are not dogs that return to the vomit.....pybus and his handler are solely responsible for the boy scouts the WI fielded and now are only able to field

Chronology-During Pipe-Buss's tenure as director of cricket he crafted a policy that all have to be in camp at least 1 week before a series. Our then great potential weapon was A not yet being called Narine. Narine had every intention of arriving in time for the 1 week's camp but his team got into the playoffs and he asked for a few day's late arrival and was denied.
The Kiwi captain whose team also made it to the playoff arrived about 2-3 days before the test cut our asses and laughed at us! Understand the difference between influence, power and authority when it comes to decision making.
When Powell went in front of UN and made the presentation 'bout Saddam having weapons do you think it was really his or Bush's wisest of choicest decision he was trotting out or was it Rumfeld's and company?
If you thing The BI wasn't deferrring to Massa den stay deh.

Hehehehehe. Even Bartimus could see that Windians who were supposed to be Pipe-Buss's boss wre not just taking advise and counsel bit surely deferring to him. And, in ways those very same CWI officers never did to fellow Windians more qualified and experienced than Pybus. The blindest in the room are ones refusing to see as well as lacking vision

No one that was fired deserved a recall. Simmons was fired by the Cameron administration and he was replaced by Pybus if I am not mistaken. Simmons took CWI to court and when Skerrit replaced Cameron Pibus was fired and Simmons replaced him and we all know how bad a job Simmons did on his second stint. So to bring back Pybus we know the trash we will get back. Why can we not get one of those coaches that coaching our 6 first class teams? Why does it have to be a former test player that chose to take their coaching talent to a foreign team instead of giving back to West Indies cricket like Gibson, Simmons and now probably Chanderpaul? Or why does he have to be a foreigner?

Simmons was fired or non cricketing reasons.....for wanting to pick the best team possible which included players that egotistical, deluded moron was at war with.

The Skerritt re-appointed Ice-cream Man...
Then the Ice- Cream Man ,Head Coach cum Selector got the "BEST TEAM" for 2021 World Cup T-20..... West Indies just by whisker failed to secure automatic qualification for 2022 World Cup T-20....
Furthermore, after brilliant display in qualification round in World Cup T-20 2022, where West Indies lost just two matches...failed to qualify for Super League....
Despite, this Ice- Cream Man was made scape goat and was forced to resign... Shame
lol

the ice cream man had a good record considering he was given second string test and odi teams. Was given the worst possible side for the 2015 world cup, a side which was hammered. Sent to Australia with holder as cappo(in 2015's winter), warrican, carlos(the least talented of any one on that side). Ironically, Denesh Ramdin scored two 50s on that tour and Darren Bravo scored a hundred and two 50s and both would find themselves out of the WI setup within a year. That to me sounds like getting rid of your best players. And the WI went NZ and were hammered, went to England, won a test and gave away the series on holder's famed intelligence or lack thereof. The two series where he was given his best players, he did very well. The ODI tri series in the WI involving australia, SA and us where ramdin, sunil, bravo, samuels, pollard and gabriel all played match winning hands in pulling us to the final.....and the 2016 T20 world cup which i believe we won.

Then the Ice- Cream Man ,Head Coach cum Selector got the "BEST TEAM" for 2021 World Cup T-20..... West Indies just by whisker failed to secure automatic qualification for 2022 World Cup T-20....
Furthermore, after brilliant display in qualification round in World Cup T-20 2022, where West Indies lost just two matches...failed to qualify for Super League

the team was old and as this year's wt20 showed, the results would not have been any better had they picked a different side.
