ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Cricket West Indies’ (CWI) Men’s Selection Panel today announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test Series in Zimbabwe, starting on 4 February. The Selection Panel recalled experienced fast bowler Shannon Gabriel, as well as left-arm spinners Gudakesh Motie and Jomel Warrican.

Gabriel has taken 161 wickets in 56 Tests, placing him joint 12th in the West Indies all-time wicket-takers list and more recently was the joint-leading wicket-taker in the CG United Super50 Cup for the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in November last year.

Gabriel’s last Test Match was against Sri Lanka in November 2021.  Warrican’s last international appearance was also in Sri Lanka in December 2021 when he played in both matches in the Test Series. Motie made his Test debut for West Indies in Antigua in June 2022 in the first Test of the two-match Series victory against Bangladesh.

why recycle Warrican, I would have given Carriah or Sinclare a chance and why is Carthy not given a chance, no other country can glorify failure like WI( WI former great players seem to be dunces off the field)

I thought Desmond Haynes would at least give us an improved team to Zimbabwe but alas a far worse team. What do they see in night watchman Riefer they trying to convert into a # 3 batter? Thomas as wicketkeeper / batsman with likes of Shai Hope and others out? I am not too upset about Warrican but if Haynes says he is after performance and decides to Raise the dead well Cornwall would have been a more realistic choice. After 13 tests Warriican has taken 41 wkts, never had a 5 for, Eco of 3.21 and best bowling of 4/50. With the bat highest of 41 and average 11.6. Let’s compare with Cornwall: 9 matches, 34 wkts, eco 2.89, 5 wickets twice and best bowling 7/ 75.
Batting: 9 matches, best score 75, 50’s=2 and ave 18.31. He has done far better than Warrican with both ball and bat and is one year younger. While I don’t like any of them if selection is based on performance Cornwall is the man. So I guess it comes down to size or team they playing for and that’s bad for our cricket

Can you post the runs/wickets by any regional player, since the Australian tour?
Motie and Gabriel are two players fans wanted in Australia, Brookes has been axed.
Do you guys realized that Brathwaite and Chanderpaul were the only two players that performed in Australia, with Chase scoring a fifty in one inning, batting down the order.
Should they drop Bonner, Mayers and Blackwood, also?
After seeing Dasilva running with pads on to recover a ball. while Cornwall could only looked at it, there is no place on a test field to hide him.
