GCB refusing to meet with the press?

Team selection has always been a topic for discussion in Guyana.
While some Guyanese bash Cricket West Indies (CWI) selectors and coaches, CWI holds virtual press conferences and gives journalists the opportunity to ask questions as it relates to team selection.
Contrastingly, since the new Guyana Cricket Board took office in March 2021, only one press conference was held, and at that press conference, the former National selector Ramnaresh Sarwan spoke about selection virtually.
Since then, the general public heard once from the Guyana Harpy Eagles lead selector, Ravindranauth Seeram where he had an exclusive interview with noted journalist Brandon Corlette. That interview was published on May 9, 2022. During that interview, some shocking disclosures were made by Seeram, and it was the buzz of the town.

From newsroom...
On Friday, the Guyana Cricket Board announced the Guyana Harpy Eagles 13-man squad for the first two rounds of the Regional Four-Day Championship that starts February 1.
Numerous persons in the cricket fraternity have expressed outrage over the composition of the squad due to in-form players being excluded.

based on that video, gy selectors are just like CWIs; favorites take precedence over performance

So because they are not, we should remain silet and let them choose their friends and families to represent Guyana... Ahead of others who deserve a chance?

Not moaning, but Adams definitely got a raw deal, unless he has an injury that has not been made public. And then for the skipper to learn of his selection/appointment via Facebook, rather than directly from the Chairman of Selectors?!? C'mon, we can do better than that.

And the nonsense continues....
Leon Johnson, captain of the Guyana Harpy Eagles, made a shocking revelation on Tuesday evening when he appeared on Barbados radio programme, Mason and Guest, stating that he learnt of his selection to the 13-man squad for the first two rounds of the West Indies Four-Day Championship through a post on Facebook.
I saw the team on Facebook! the long-standing captain of the Harpy Eagles revealed in response to a question on whether he was informed of the squad selected.
Pressed by host Andrew Mason to clarify his statement, Johnson responded:
would I make that up?
It must be noted numerous efforts have been made by News Room Sport to contact GCB officials for comments on matters pertaining to the squad, but no direct response on selection matters has been given to date.

Adams is not injured... In his last three practice matches he took a 5fer, 4fer and a 2fer.. He scored over 50 on the yo-yo.
Compare that to Nedd.. He failed the yo-yo test... Got 30, picked up 3 wickets in the practice match and still make the squad.
Less said about the chief selector nephew Akshaya Persaud the better.

why would Johnson be surprised he's cappo? There was no announcement that he was sacked from that role.
Regardless, the more deserving players, if they are, should be picked.

Johnson has done very little over many years now and so it is hard to see him sitting with selectors telling them who to pick or leave out based on performance

agree, but I mean if they didn't tell him he was losing the captaincy, why would he be surprised he was cappo? Unless he was sacked and then re-instated behind the scenes.

Johnson missed the first match.. Didn't captain his team in the second match, Imlach was the skipper.
Now I see Devers reporting that the head coach claiming that he didn't had any input in team selection... Wonder if we gonna ever hear from the GCB?

Now I see the DCC crew trying to justify the Nedd selection on social media by saying Adams is too old at 30... When they sacked Barnwell the call back then from the DCC crew was that he is experienced and will add value to the team
Sad thing is that some of these same guys fighting to get into power and replace the current power drunk ones... There really isn't any hope for Guyana cricket.

Why is the captain not part of the selection process?
Cricket captains is far different from other team sports captain, he is responsible for all infield duties, he should never given a team, that he had no input with the selection.

So a former Guyana female coach posted this on his social media page...
These are the words of the selectors Nedd was economical and locking down 1 end.
Here are the bowling figures of the trials.
Adams.
9 ov 15 runs 1 wk
5ov 10 runs 1wk
7ov 25 runs 0wk
7ov 25runs 4wks
Over all he bowl 28 overs 75 runs 6 wks with econ rate 2.67
Nedd
12 ov 72 runs 1wk
10 ov 16 runs 1wk
19 ov 48runs 1wk
Over all 41 overs 136 runs 3 wks economical rate 3.31
They should have just said no comments.
While Nedd is a good young cricketer and base on the results I heard from the YoYo test he has nothing much to be selected ahead of Adams other than youth because he has not met the minimum standards set by CWI.

They could argue giving more youths a chance but that would nail Johnson given his age and his lack of runs for years

So, Leon's FB team beat the defending champions in Gm 1 of the 2023 edition of WICT. The Selector and Manager's son claims a 5fer to back up Nandu's debut 126. Kevlon Anderson is in TT to play with Preysal in the hope of getting into the GHE when the second half of the WI season commences in TT for the final 3 games of the tournament. Adams' non-selection has gone to ground.
What press conference again?
Look! the fans of Guyana and by extension CWI cricket keep getting the treatment they crave.
