With weakness in batting, Bravo should be given a 10 test matches run....at no.5....a player with away performance against India,New Zealand, Pakistan.... would be better than Brooks,Thomas et al....

Bravo should be in Zimbabwe & S.Africa tour
In reply to Onionman0
Bravo is done. washed up.
I would pick Hope, instead
In reply to Onionman0
It's up to Bravo to prove he belongs in the Test squad by scoring heavily in the upcoming regional competition.
In reply to mikesiva
Agreed, I wouldn't write him off just yet but time isn't on his side either.
Hope and King should've been considered for the middle-order, neither are playing in the upcoming fc championship which is disappointing.
In reply to Onionman0
Agreed
I have said it before no present West Indies team in any format should leave the Caribbean shores without
King
S Hope
S Hetmyer
D Bravo
How would they have feared in Australia, King would be cleaned up bowled or LBW by Starc inswingers, S Hope would be suspect to the short ball on those hard pitches, Hetmyer it would depend where his head is at on the day and Bravo still recovering from his two year absence. However these 4 are much better batters than the B Boys Brooks Bonner and Blackwood.

Whats the latest with Sir Garfield Sobers? Did the selectors consider him?
Since were calling names of people who performed once upon a time surely Sir Gary has a strong case
In reply to FanAttick
Or Adrian Barath!
Because we seem to not want to look at the numbers either career-wide or recent and current form!
In reply to FanAttick
Garry could still bat better than blackknowood
didnt bravo make odi West Indian runs?
In reply to Onionman0
something seriously wrong with allyuh men boy. See why the report says that if the WI doesn't have their best squad, our cricket will be extinct. But some of you only care about if your island gets exposure, no matter how talentless or incompetent the player is. Jomel Warrican, for example, in any other cricketing setup, would be at least 3rd in the pecking order of spinners after permaul(who's not on this tour), akeal hosein(who is in UAE), and mootie, who is hear. Somehow he makes a wi squad. its absurd
In reply to Leggully
Hetmyer?
Thanks for the laugh!

What are you smoking...
In reply to Cricket_101
yes i agree....the west indies has the strongest batting lineup in the world. bravo clearly isn't needed
In reply to Jumpstart
maybe 10 yrs ago he'd have been needed... I've supported Darren many years; but of as now he'd enjoy his t20/t10 career - make money and chill.
In reply to Onionman0
To do what?
In reply to FanAttick
Lara and Viv might worth a look!
In reply to Onionman0
In his last 7 test matches he averaged 11.5 runs per innings.
In reply to googley
What are his recent ODI scores- why seven? You like that number?

were you sober when you wrote this

The ball is in Bravo's court. Make runs in February, and the calls for his recall will be justified. If he fails, as he did in his last four-day outings, then questions arise about age catching up with him.
As for Hope and King, they clearly prefer to play T20 cricket in Bangladesh and UAE respectively, to playing four-day cricket for Barbados and Jamaica respectively, so let's stop talking about them as potential Test players right now.

dude you know in WI cricket that's not how things are done. Roston Chase's selection to the test side in australia was nonsensical, nothing he did in the last two years was deserving of a recall. Cornwall was more deserving of a pick on the plane to australia than chase and reifer. And talent wise, Bravo, hope, hetmeyer, pooran and king are light years in front of him. When WI decides to pick its best team, the our cricket will progress.
Quite a number of posters are suggesting King should be a part of the Test squad. Theres is no questioning his talent and ability as a batter.
I have been looking closely at him in the ILT20. There is a glaring tendency that has to be corrected. When he plays some shots on the off side, his head position is falling away.
In reply to mikesiva
Bravo, with his past performance has already proven to belong to test team.... whether, he still has in him...doubt exists in many minds.......made successful return after tiff with Cameron....under Pybus, against England...made match winning half century, taking atleast 10 bruises on his body.....thereafter,under present management he was earmarked as T-20 player, then ODI but cast away from test...after few failures.....he should be rehabilitated in test team.... should be given confidence....10 matches to perform or perish.....
In reply to Jumpstart
I agree that the selection of Chase makes no sense. But that doesn't automatically mean that Bravo is the answer.
He needs to justify calls for his recall by making runs for Trinidad next month.
Otherwise, you swapping black dawg fi monkey.

What's in your Chalice?
In reply to Onionman0
The other Darren, Darren Ganga, would have been a better option. Remember he had back to back centuries against the great Australia batting at #3
Failing that, they could also have opted for Faoud Bacchus because he had scored 250 away against India!
These shortsighted West Indies selectors!
In reply to Onionman0
So, how did Bravo perform against the Windwards?
Scores of 38 and 23.
If you feel you've been unfairly left out, you need to make runs at FC level to prove your point. Bravo has so far failed to do so.
In reply to jacksprat
Perhaps a bury the hatchet gesture of bringing back Yagga Rowe would have been fitting
in reply to Maispwi
That too!
He did score 214 and 100 n.o on debut, plus a triple century 2 years later!
Where is the vision of these selectors?
Bring back the Honorary White!

Just one match, a poster started a thread about finding a genuine all rounder...
Another ,A solid opener..
Another, a fast bowler...
Now, Mike...you join the rest to write off, Bravo....after one match...And at the same time you don't like to start Fantasy League for 2- match series.... depriving oldies like me to have some happiness.....
Hold on, let the season complete......we oldies never believe.....not one night stand..... full season produce many greats
In reply to mikesiva
WHY??
In reply to embsallie
Need a specialist water boy I wonder?
Bravo showed that he still has..... determination,grit....that made him the top West Indies batter....he was disappointed after dismissal.....Haynes should select him for Saffies tour...
Make him bat at no.5 ...in the West Indies team....to guide the inning....
In reply to natty_forever
Well with back to back centuries...Bravo showed that he should have been in the Zimbabwe...
Certainly deserves a look in
