In reply to anthonyp
I don't understand why Antigua continues to host cricket when clearly they can't!!!
In reply to WIfan26
In some other news... Apparently the debutants for Guyana didn't get their caps.. GCB continues with their incompetence
No First-Class caps for Guyana Harpy Eagles debutants.
Historically, caps are given to players on debut but on this rare occasion, no caps were presented to the players. On the other hand, Barbados Pride three debutants were presented their caps.
The debutants are Matthew Nandu, Kemol Savory and Shamar Joseph.
In reply to anthonyp
What deh rass smh!!!
In reply to anthonyp
yea
i was watching
in the 2nd over Nandu tried to leave one that kicked and it hit his left forearm / elbow area
in the 4th over one took a big chunk of the pitch and went high up in the air to the keeper
apparently they had tournament here lately and didn't have enough prep time...
Cricket
Widely
Incompetent
In reply to doosra
Should just call the match off and ask the curator to prepare a fresh pitch... That patch won't hold and it's just outside the left hander off stump...
Plus it will give the big ones at GCB a chance to get the caps for the debutants there.

Or is GCB sending a message to dem that dem nah deserve to be capped?
Finally Jair given a chance.

Thanks for sharing link...
Matthew looks solid. In my option, i don't think Hemraj batting temperament is suited for four matches - he'd be utilized in the shorter formats.

50 for Nandu on debut... Keep on batting champ!
Guyana 122-3

In reply to Curtis
This is GCB response
The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) noticed in a Facebook post earlier today made by Cricnation592 that debutants did not receive caps prior to the start of the first round match of the West Indies
Championship against Barbados Pride in Antigua.
It should be noted, there was a delay in the shipment of the uniforms and caps that were ordered for the tournament due to the unfortunate death of a close family member of the supplier and a subsequent delay in Miami. However, the GCB issued caps to all players (not the Baggy Green) prior to the teams departure to Antigua. Additionally, the customary handing over ceremony will be held during the lunch break.
To suggest caps were not issued to the debutants is erroneous.
This is the best bowling attack Barbados can put together these days when the Test men gone? damn!
The debutant in Nandu holding GY batting together... Another Tage for oil country
In reply to Cricket_101
As Boycott used to say "...you don't make runs sitting in the pavilion".
In reply to defeyeant
Apart from the test bowlers....Simmons Drakes and Primus plying their trade ...Joshua Bishop imho the best spin option totally ignored. Harding given the start but many others in the trials outperformed him.
In reply to analyst-kid
I dont wish to sound harsh but why do they keep picking Harding ?
In reply to robbo
Not only that...howcum young pacer Jair McAllister dismissed Hemraj the opener and has bowled the least? 10-0-20-1?
In reply to analyst-kid
Harding did nothing in trials yet he is in the team. Name brand players yet again. Others clearly outperformed him yet he is allowed to bowl garbage.
In reply to robbo
This might be a repeat of last year where Harding started and then was dropped...certainly Nyeem Young or the legspinning allrounder Wickham are better options?
In reply to SnoopDog
concurred
In reply to analyst-kid
Yes
. They really rate Harding obviously
he been all over the place today
I dont understand the obsession with him.
In reply to robbo
When he gets it right, Harding takes wickets but he has been playing too long to be so consistently all over the place.
In reply to analyst-kid
Exactly
problem is that allowing for the absent senior/test/international players there really arent any youngsters knocking on the door let alone knocking the door down.
U know, one a alyuh can post the score for those of us not watching. Nobody nah gon beat alyuh for doing so.
In reply to robbo
How will they even know if any are good when we just recycle. Is Wickham injured? Why is one of the better young batsmen in Bim not in the team. He has already played regionally in the ODIs and showed his talent. Even Goodridge the fast bowler would do a better job than Harding.

Why is Guyana playing 3 'keepers!!
In reply to Kay
Johnson made 26.
In reply to Batbeforepad
Because the three keepers are better batsmen than the ones who pretend to be specialist... Which front line batsmen scored more runs than Imlach, Savory and Bramble?
In reply to anthonyp
Exactly...I agree, and that's why the "great" Akshaya should have never been selected!!
In reply to seaegg99
If Shaquille, Goodridge and Kemar Smith were the best bowlers in the trial then pick them.
If Worrell opened with aggression and runs...pick him.
If Wickham clearly has tremendous potential ...pick him.
Ryan Hinds seems to forget that in his time the Barbados attack was a express pacer in Best longside fast medium and medium pace of Collins Collymore and Bradshaw....go back 40 years it was Vanburn Holder, Keith Boyce John Shepherd and Sobers
Carlisle Best forgot a medium pacer by the name of Malcolm Marshall made the Barbados team in 1978
There was an ultra aggressive Guyanese opener by the name of Roy Fredericks
And there was a left arm spinner who could bat a bit name Garfield Sobers
Trinidad produced a successful left arm medium pacer who could bat name Bernard Julien
SO why the Barbadian selectors ignoring the medium and fàst medium performers in the local trials?
I see Ransford Beaton has returned to action.
Hope he takes a return catch this time around.
In reply to Drapsey
Hope they don't report his action in the first match... He's still flinging

Kid - they play this named brand game all the time. You got some young talent but they will never get a chance for Bim because they needed to make a name for themselves. Remember Reifer, Myers, Greaves, Primus etc. had to play for other regional teams before they could takes spots of so called name brand players.
Barbadian selectors have no foresight at all.
The Pride have two fastbowlers to work with, Akeem Jordan and Jair McAllister.
Ton up for Nandu.
Yesssss!
Well played Nandu ....
Let me be the first to congratulate Nandu on his first fc ton.
Congrats young man.
congrats Nandu
Well played Nandu.. Keep on batting!
Give youngsters a chance and stop picking the regular failures..

If it was up to me unfit Hemraj de getting drop too... Ramnauth would've been opening with Nandu in this match. Anderson in the playing XI ahead of Johnson.

i think Ramnauth got plenty work to do
Hemraj got man boobs now...he has place in 4 day cricket

Who are responsible for working individually with the batsman and Fastbowlers at the Centre of Excellence.
It was appalling to watch Harding yesterday, and every batsman today is stuck at the crease.
BTW, I heard the reason from Franklyn Stephenson a few weeks, coaches are teaching from a book, not working on each player area of weakness.

After working his way back into the @windwards_volcanoes, @kimani_melius1 today blasted his maiden first class century (192) against Trinidad and Tobago in the @windiescricket regional 4-day competition.
Its a wonderful return to top form for Kimani who self funded his recent trips to the UK for us to work together on his batting. Great to see his commitment, hard work and determination being rewarded. Well done Kiman

In reply to FanAttick
I
A number of these guys scored centuries in the legends trials, the fans were happy about that.
I am not surprise with the outcome, my boy Kraigg carried the batsman on his shoulders the last 10 years.
Every time a fan post about a player non selection, I try show him historical data of why he should not be selected.
They are 3-4 players that should be on this team, Kevin Wickham, Kemar Smith, Nyeem Young and Leniko Boucher.
Kemar is Dwayne Smith brother, he has been performing in all formats the last 2-4 years, Leniko Boucher had a very strong year in all formats last season, Nyeem batting is better than what we saw at the U19 level.
Moseley and Brooks should follow Jonathon Carter.
I posted Jonathan Drakes 10 years data, 8-10 his average was in the twenties, the BCA have the annual data for all players.
Someone must like Zachary McCaskie
