Yes. I do not know what they see in Palmer as Captain. He had the captaincy before and was horrible. Now he is even worse.
Dumb captaincy.
That's what I hate about cricket. 139/6 to 232/9
Got it from my mother.
We hate when the opposition makes runs.
Grateful if someone would say why Shields did not play?
In reply to Headley
Palmer is no captain. He sucks.
In reply to buds
We all know, but it seems there is no one else putting up his hand.

Palmer let LI put on 100 more runs. Very horrible captaincy.
I am no captain, yet I could do a better job.
They should sack him after this game and give it to AThomas.
In reply to Chrissy
Palmer better score the extra 100 runs he allowed to the LI.
Such is the state of cricket in Jamaica, none of the two major newspapers even bother to report the scores of the match between Jamaica and Leewards and of course there are no online links.
In reply to Slipfeeler
How do you mean no online links - what do you think we're watching?
See my 9.50 post
Got to watch this JA batting and Lugg in particular.
First observation though is about the spacing of the slip fielders...far too close together and
Big Corn should be further back than the others for the new ball
Wow..Lugg the Slugger carts Louis for maximum to get off the mark.
This should be fun to watch...

I was so mad. Hopefully he and other young players will learn as they say 'best practice' shot selection in
their game.A lot depends on them if WI must prosper .
In reply to Chrissy
Young Mansingh understands that there is good money to be made from this game. I predict he will be on the WI team this time next year.
In reply to Headley
Somehow batted as a tail-ender for the CCC in the recent Super50.
220/8
Mansingh 44*
Mansingh seems a sensible bloke ..Commentators hinting about him being not selected before this because of some kinda bias
New ball coming up
In reply to Raggs
Good Jamaican kid - been playing a long time - played some cricket in India as well. Is now at UWI - you know how these things do in this region.
I wish him all the best - could be a decent bowling allrounder.
I always tell folks I knew grandpa and grandma before I knew his dad and mum
Frazer gawn
225/9
Good fifty young Mansingh 56 on debut.
234/10
In reply to Chrissy
Mansingh looks solid looks a good team player, plays the situation.
In reply to Chrissy
Was impressed with his calm demeanor a he entered the fray with Jamaica in a very precarious situation
after Lugg's effort. He carried the lower order bating to a reasonable score given the wobbly batting and his
wicket taking to means that he can become useful allrounder.
Hope he continues to better things.Jamaica surely needs players like him.
In reply to hubert
Harty vs Carty battle rages on in earnest
In reply to FanAttick
Yes..now Harty gets a gift of wicket from Hamilton.
Frazer was also lucky with his rebound from short leg fielder to wk..He Grazer has not been bowling well at all.
But this group needs all the luck they can muster.
In reply to hubert
Indeed
In reply to hubert
Harty triumphs in his battle with Carty

Can we squeeze another Jimmy Adams outa him? At least he has the genuine bowling bonafides while Jimmy
was a part-tima
In reply to FanAttick
Is he the Mansingh lad who played grade cricket in Oz or was it his brother?
In reply to Brerzerk
You have to ask Chrissy bro
I have no clue
Still cannot understand why Shields didnt get his start, unless its a concerted effort by JCA and CWI to let the test players in the Bajan squad face some real pace before the start of the match with Zimbabwe.
In reply to Brerzerk
back when
I feel a Jimmy Adams moment coming on in Mansingh
In reply to Raggs
I don't see a lot of padding, so chances are you may be disappointed!

Mansingh is a graduate of the Cawmere of Yaad. So is Brandon King. Campion top of the Academic chart in the Caribbean.
In reply to natty_forever
Cawmere is not top of our academic chart
That would be Harrison College or Queens College in Bim
In fact Campion and Harrison College are presently engaged in a student exchange program
In reply to sudden
I stand corrected.
In reply to sudden
Mek him chat - Campion is not the top school in the region either - dem just arrived
Score?
In reply to Chrissy
Since 2000. Now producing thinking cricketers.
In reply to natty_forever
The thing is we dont want to be either
Our creed unofficially is- school is a place to be enjoyed, make lifelong friends, and find yourself. with no pressure to comply you can be all, some or none of you want to be
In other words, a collective like you have never seen
The others of course are jealous and call us a mafia

In reply to Chrissy

In reply to FanAttick
Congrats to Mansingh for an excellent effort to gain a draw for Jamaica.
Five wickets and two scores of 50 with an unbeatenn one at the end says it all.
BUT they can thank Hamilton for the favourable result for Jamaica.
I watched in dismay all day seeing this captain wasting so much time on the field,,between overs, during overs and
other times too when he should have been in control with urgency to the cause. Blame those who made him captain
This shpuld have been a comfortable win for the Leewards.
He could have had at least five more overs in the time allotted before the rain mercifully intervened.
Although Hamilton messed up, too often the Jamaica batters were ultra defensive..Too many off volleys were patted down to close fielders..
They should no have allowed so many fieldr to field so comfortably near the bat when gifted deliveries are on offe.
All it should have taken were carpeted shots to the outfield making the fielders chase and retrieve. from outfield,
a factor that would also eats up time.
But all's well that ends well...thanks Mansingh and to Hammy.
We will all learn, I hope.
In reply to hubert
I would still prefer to see young Jordan Johnson in the team
win lose or draw
..
Look at what young Melius did
Yardie selectors are shortsighted
Mansingh proved that he belongs
hopefully he gets a good long run
In reply to hubert
Excellent summary - mediocre cricket
In reply to Chrissy
It becomes clearer by the day that one of the main contributing factors to the demise of WI cricket is that regional cricketers generally lack critical thinking skills
they dont have situational awareness
The way Mansingh constructed his inning shows that he possesses above average intelligence
.
WI needs to start over by building from the grassroots players who are both technically and academically inclined
.
In reply to Chrissy
Mansingh, in demeanor ,approach ,strokepplay, calmness etc reminds me of one Joe Stanislaus Solomon the
solid Guyana/West Indies batter back in the day..I think Joe is 92 if he is still with us.
Hope Mansingh continues to develop as he is a breath of fresh air amid much mediocrity/confusion in Jamaica's cricket.
A real surprise package he is.
In reply to hubert
Do not forget the dunce JA captain! He should have taken the new ball instead of gifting the LI 100 plus runs. JHamilton is a dunce captain also.
Big up Mansighn. Great find by JA.
In reply to FanAttick
I disagree - youngsters are not learning basic technique - you don't even see them playing in the streets or in open spaces. You play what you see and they don't see cricket - it's mostly pay for view outside of SDC. Some schools can't even field a decent XI.
In reply to FanAttick
I agree. A good team needs a core majority of thinking players.
I don't know if you realised it but the recent success that Ja has garnered coincides with some graduate players on the teams.
Wait. Are people repeating the sentiments of the much maligned Hilarious One with regards to cricketer acumen?
In reply to Maispwi
No. We just glad to see this approach. It's been lacking.
In reply to Raggs
Ziggy went to STGC. I'll check my Campion mates.
