Colorado Buffaloes head football coach Deion Sanders speaks to members of the media about National Signing Day during a press conference at the Dal Ward Athletic Center in Boulder on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023. Sanders spoke about signing new players to the football team for the upcoming season. (Matthew Jonas/MediaNews Group/Boulder Daily Camera via Getty Images)

When asked whether recently retired quarterback Tom Brady’s record of seven Super Bowls would ever be broken, Sanders said no one will be willing to make the sacrifices necessary to surpass him.

BTW, Tiger is teeing off in less than an hour.

Interesting comments all around there but on the sacrifices for seven SBs... I think he has a point. Free agency and the cap means that franchises have to be creative and can't just hoard talent year over year as long as the talent is always seeking more $.

Brady over the course of the last several seasons had a salary well below what other guys got paid. Not many guys in that boat. Yes, not many guys were married to a woman earning the bank that Giselle did either, to be fair.

Lemme ask you this.

If you were paid $50 Million every year with a good chance to win several super bowls, would you rather get $70 Million and win none?

In other words WTF are you going to do with the extra $20 Million dollars?????

Many players opt for higher salaries and sign with subpar teams, I don't blame them.

Many players don't think about winning look at Aaron Judge he was willing to sign with the Giants but he ended signing with the Yankees for more dollars.

I'm a Yankees fan and have a chance at winning but now they cannot sign other premium players putting them as playoff contenders but not World Series winners.

Winning is notguaranteed in sports bit they money is.

Most of the players you write about are secure financially, and want to move to another level in winning.
They will always be in demand because of performance, so money will not be the issue.

And that's the premier question when it comes to players and contracts vs championships and legacy and so on.

Of course a sport like NFL, you're almost always a play away from a career-ending injury, so the agents tell them to secure as much (guaranteed) money as you can especially when young.

Update: he's back at it.

But getting a bit of biteback

The irony of this is, Deion himself was raised solely by his mother and grandmother. The notion that men raised by women aren’t “men” or aren’t “disciplined” is not only false but absurd.

And from an unrelated post:

2. I would bet that in the military the people meant to do the dying are recruited similarly.
