by the lac of penetration at the other end in all format, this guys has developed in to a real penetrative bowler but will never reap the reward because of what happens at the other end

When was the last time the West Indies won
TWO games in a row in any cricket game?
I feel fitness is one of the problems.Unless we get back to the days when we had a super fit team we will always play like this.
Why the captains always underbowl Mayers . It was obvious in the Test matches and in this match. It is about time Shiv Chanderpaul be appointed the batting coach.

Unfortunately, Cottrell was the only other decent ODI pacer we had but man lost fitness and a shadow of his former self. Something really wrong with our players. Cottrell 9 outta 10 times use to take a wicket with the new ball.

Gabriel or Roach should've been drafted into squad.
In reply to Cricket_101
Gabriel is in the ODI squad but cudn mek de 11 and how penetrative was Roach in the Test series?
In reply to Maispwi
Check his stats... He'Roach" took 4/5 wickets in one inning. Overall he did well.
In reply to Cricket_101
Roach rarely plays any List-A cricket now.
Would have been an opportunity to give Nicholson Gordon or Nial Smith a call-up or a recall for Keemo Paul.
In reply to WICFan
He was selected the first series after dessie was appointed COS.
Dessie seem to be confused with his selection, some are senseless.
Brooks, Chase may no sense.

No, Roach took 5 wickets in one inning. One inning does not a penetrative bowler make! The difficulty is that WI does not seem interested in developing young players but only with sticking with the "established" players with the hope that they will improve through practice in international matches. The selectors dont seem to have a plan and the team does not seem to be able to play consistenly. In fact, we can say that in the ODIs, if Hope fails, the team fails. No one else has been anywhere near as consistent in providing runs. The bowling has been consistently shown to be hopeless and it was beyond obvious that Motie should have been picked to develop his bowling and confidence as well as because he is a pretty decent ODI bowler and that if, correctly, you want an allrounder in the lower order who can hustle runs, Shepherd is a better option than Smith.

No man is an island... You win and lose as a team... You can that also say that about Tage and Paint...
Am almost sure Roach or Gabriel can bowl 10 quality overs.
We could not defend our 260... That is due to the fact that our bowling failed us. Back in the day our bowlers would've bowl out SA under 200.
Roach did well in SA... Check his stat.. In every inning he took wickets.

I think Paul would be a better option out of the 3. I don't think Nail is ready.
In reply to Cricket_101
Roach got 7 wickets at over 30 a piece on juicy wickets and you consider dat penetrative?
In reply to Maispwi
juicy wicket/pitch implies its to batters advantages.
In reply to Cricket_101
Flat tracks/roads are to batter's advantage. Where you learn ur cricket? Wish u luck facing quality fast bowling on juiced up pitches
In reply to Maispwiyou said Juicy wicket
I will reiterate, Roach or Gabriel would be good option in the ODI squad... You said he took 7 wickets at 30 avg. How many overs yielded 7 wickets = 30 avg?
