Hope and King in the top order batting. I am CONFIDENT that Pooran is going to come good at the WC. If we could only get the heads right of two LEFT HANDERS one more for that middle order and the other in the opening position sighhh. Joseph, Hosein and Holder were reasonable. Keemo is showing signs, hopefully Seales comes back even better. Therefore, Odeans place is to be challenged by Obed McCoy, Keemo Paul, and Romario Shepherd. Gabriel should be challenged by Seales. We also have FABIAN ALLEN, Motie, Stclaire and Big Corn that can STRONGLY compete for a place instead of Chase and Cariah. There is hope for us yet.

We didnt lose the series. Especially away from home.

Shepherd ain't no different than Odean, both are runs truck but Odean's extra pace can give him the edge as a wicket taker over shepherd. Both are very useful batsmen but once you occupying the back end of the batting order, you need to be able to make an impact with the ball also.
The one positive i'll say from this series is that we finally seem to understand that we are playing modern ODI cricket. Who remember the days of Hope, Darren Bravo and Jason Mohammed in an ODI team batting like they have to come back the next day
I enjoyed Hope's century in the 2nd ODI, to me, his best century to date. In the past, he would have just cruised to a century and we might have only made 310 and not 335.
The balance of the squad wasn't bad either as Holder, Hosein, Cariah, Smith and Joseph meant you can still scrape your way to a decent total even if the specialist bats don't have a good day. At the end of the day though, bowling win championships as Darren Sammy says. Hosein and Joseph belongs. The others are hit and miss with the ball. I think with Joseph, Hosein, Holder and Cariah all being capable of making runs, Smith can be sacrificed for a specialist bowler. Maybe Seales or McCoy if they come off the physio table.
We won the 2nd ODI on South African soil and drew the series. Also, changing up the batting order allows the team to make the most of the batting powerplay.
Sorry, Jen. Cant agree with you on Smith v Shepherd. Smith's extra pace is just used to help the ball to the boundary. I am afraid I dont see any positives from the tour. The team performed no more than as expected, having caught SA by surprise in the first match. I am just not seeing any forward movement. I would say please keep Keemo and Seales away from ODIs and leave them in red ball cricket until they truly develop their skills. The bowling is the most critical thing right now and perhaps McCoy and Motie can help Hosein and Joseph with Shepherd and Mayers sharing the final 10 overs. i am not sure that Hope can keep, captain and be the best bat all at once. Perhaps he needs to pass the gloves to Pooran.
The bowlers the selectors invested in have not progressed.
Two WCs ago Roach was our best bowler...now it is Alzharri....who else has stepped up?
Certainly not Smith or Shepherd...in fact Mayers has surpassed them.
Seales Philips Drakes and others have to be looked at...Smith is going nowhere.

With contribution from Mayers and Holder, you don't need Smith or Shepherd, even Powell is a wasted selection, Joseph
need his partner Seales back, Jason and Mayers to back them up, Hosein and a wrist or a non left arm finger spinner to accompany him.
1. King
2. Mayers
3.
4. Hope
5. Pooran
6.
7. Holder
8.
9. Hosein
10. Joseph
11.

Obviously if Lewis and Hetmyer were to get their heads right then they would be favourites to take the two spots in the top 6, rejigging the batting order.
There is Motie, Sinclair, Allen and maybe one or two others for another spinners spot.
If there is another pacer the Gabriel, Seales or Paul should be considered.
The big positive is that they are only weak in two areas.
If they fix their batting and bowling they will beat most of the top teams ...

Lol
I would drop holder who has not been good in any format for a while now along with brooks and cariah and build from there

Phew!!! At least they are not weak in fielding.
In the immortal words of Michael Holding....."Can't bat, can't bowl, can't field."
