In reply to anthonyp
Anderson chasing wide balls need to be worked on...he did that all TT match
In reply to doosra
Early on in his career Matty Hayden said he had that exact problem.
His solution was to have a bowling machine pitching balls just out side off stump on a particular area on the pitch. He would watch every ball hit that area on the pitch without playing a shot. He would form a mental image in his mind on where those balls are hitting that area of the pitch and instinctively he would start leaving those balls alone.
These are technical issues that every player can work on if they want it bad enough.
In reply to SnoopDog
that's a good one...
he gotta rework his wiring and hours of what Hayden did etc would help
In reply to doosra
Not many guys want to spend hours in the nets watching balls hit the pitch and not playing shots.
It's the type of discipline that many of our domestic players sorely need at the FC level.
Incidentally, Hayden got so good at being able to know where certain deliveries were going to pitch that he developed his walking towards the bowlers later in his career and carving them all over the place.
In reply to anthonyp
Did not see that but from comments he needs to avoid chasing wide balls.
I saw him being poised, playing very straight and balanced.
Still very young an new to this level so he needs proper guidance. I liked what little I saw
of him.He has it to be very good IF he gets the help. At this stage he and his mentor (there should be one at least)
should be looking at the videos of his innings. These should be available since they are being broadcast.
In reply to hubert
Only his second match at this level... Hopefully he improves. Lots to work with though.

In reply to Chrissy
Do you see the need for team psychologist?
A free mind does wonders. Guy is batting tension free
with uncluttered mind knowing hes already decided to walk away.
Pity WI couldnt have developed him and he didnt make more senior team$$$$
In reply to Brerzerk
You are 100% correct in that assessment.
In reply to Brerzerk
Crickets peeps in many of our territories do more harm than good by putting pressure on talented youngsters.
I remember after Leon scored that double ton in Tobago, Guyanese called him the second coming of Lara.
They should have let the kid develop and thrive and not put so much pressure on him. Yes he is batting stress free now.
He should have had way more than seven 1st class tons
Congrats Leon!
In reply to Chrissy
actually, as soon as he picked up a bat at GCC they started calling him that...long before that double
In reply to doosra
Yeah! I remember meeting him at Bourda in 2003 when he was U15 and they were calling him Baby Lara.
In reply to StumpCam
Johno debuted for Guyana at 16 yrs old against Leewards...playing at Enmore...run out for duck in his first FC match.
Cappo of the WI U19 team.
I always liked him and I believe he was discarded from the WI team way too early
In reply to doosra
True but the regional commies picked up on it
In reply to Narper
Hope he gets to 150 - would have loved a double but he only has one man left with him.

Just checking in and see score and hear about follow on. Someone has to
let comms know the margin in 4-day cricket is 150. Jamaica need to score 129 to avert this.

My rule of thumb is that when you have the option to enforce the follow-on having skittled out the opposition for a paltry score, take it
Ive seen too many instances in which a team is let back into the game when for all intents and purposes they were dead and buried

I'm caught up with nuff things..so can't watch much so maybe that is a good thing

Keep looking for gaps and play with soft hands to 'good length' balls and don't just jook-jook

By declaring about 30 minutes before tea,Johnno reckoned he could have his fast bowlers bowl 3 overs each before tea.Go in and rest and then come out and bowl 4 overs each after tea.
In reply to Dukes
perhaps but i don't think that is how i would ...5-6 overs each like the first innings
there is no reason to be batting for the sake of because you want to rest your fast men...
my comment is about the intent...
In reply to doosra
The reality is that Nial Smith gets tired after 3-4 overs. As captain you have to deal with what you have.ESPECIALLY when you do not have a third seamer.

The problem for Jamaica is that their batting is so fragile that they could collapse like ninepins when the partnership is broken
For Yard to have a chance the current pair has to bat until tea
Gilzene goes lbw to Sinclair for 85

Worst?
Even with Blackie and Bonner?
Jam hadn't lost this badly all season....
Easy win for Guyana...
Should Guyana rest one of the spinners and give Shamar Joseph a chance in the final round? I think he will be a handful on that Providence pitch with a new ball.

How many ducks in this match? Over 20? 🦆
In reply to anthonyp
That would be nice but how do you drop Permaul, Motie, or Sinclair? The only way would be to play Sinclair as a batsman and drop Nandu, Anderson or Savory which probably doesnt make sense!
