Team Headley vs Team Weekes
In reply to Dukes
????
Please eddemacate mi.
isn't this supposed to be for the best performers of the season so why pick chase, brathwaithe who have not played one match ,and blackwood has only played one match and done nothing
You need to raise the standard of the cricket. The upcoming players have to play with and against the best we have. How else can we evaluate Jordan and Smith unless they are bowling to Chanderpaul and Blackwood.Similarly you want Mindley and McAllister to test their skills against Kraigg and Athanaze.
In reply to Dukes
i have no problem with that logic but what about the Greaves, Savory and others who have performed pretty well in the regional season. Shouldnt they get a chance as well?

If that is what it is supposed to be then it is further evidence of brain dead people running our cricket.
The concept of the Headley-Weekes series is to have the best 22 players playing against each other as well as playing against the Academy which consists of young players who you have identified as future test/ODI and T 20 players for the West Indies.
I therefore would expect that Teddy Bishop,Matthew Nandu and Kevlon Anderson to be in the Academy team. However let us see what CWI come up with.
In reply to Seechy
Wat wud be the point of playing Johnson who has announced dat he will retire at the end of the tournament?
In reply to Dukes
Nandu not part of the academy setup...
Players in the WI academy
Kevlon Anderson
Keagan Simmons
Kirk McKenzie
Teddy Bishop
Kevin Wickham
Ackeem Auguste
Ramon Simmonds
McKenny Clarke
Johann Layne
Kelvin Pitman
Ashmead Nedd
Joshua Bishop
Nyeem Young
Joshua James
Leonardo Julien

I would still play him (Nandu)
KB, Tage, Reifer, Athanaze, Blackwood, Chase, JDS, Motie, Mindley, Jordan, Gabriel.
Melius, Nandu, Bravo, Carty, Bonner, Mansingh, Dowrich, Primus, Cornwall, Smith, McAllister.
You have to include King and Hope
In reply to tc1
Didn't realise King hadn't been signed to an IPL deal.
In reply to Dukes
I am not convinced with this.....We could have added two extra team 4-day tournament...CCC & Academy......the winner team compete with the best players of the tournament...
In reply to Dukes
By definition, omitting the IPL players means that the upcoming players are NOT playing with and against the best we have.
Alzari Joseph - best fast bowler
Akeal Hosein - best spinner
Jason Holder - best all rounder
Pooran, Hetmeyer, Shai Hope, Brandon King, Evin Lewis - the best batsmen bar none that we have
In reply to anthonyp

Totally agree! This should be the nucleus of our white ball cricket team.
In reply to Dukes
McCaskie has to be in one of the teams...282 runs at an average of 40 so far this season.
