The left-wingers and the influential backroom misfits may find this to be amusing, but the rest of America, which is a center-right country, will sneer derisively and see it as just another attack on their beliefs. Even after everything that has happened in the past few years, Trump is still the favourite to win the Republican nomination and defeat the senile Biden. Not that Trump is any less senile.

I don’t think you fully get it. Trump and his goons tried to overthrow the US government. This is unprecedented.
Sure they have done the same to others but never like this to themselves since secession followed by the Civil War.
