Time for Shai to hit the IPL! A good to great t20 series against the English in December and he can make moves at the auction.

Shai is redefining himself as a batsman.

I think he will snd should make a return in test but he needs not just jump back in. Do the preparation mentally and otherwise. He should succeed

I was never a fan of Fidel, I label him a net bowler, Tino with a little help, could had been better, he was just fast and wayward.
Kemar was smart enough to get the best out of his body.
H e is among the Barbados legends of great fast bowlers.

fidel was poorly managed. barbados cricket loves yes men so they were never really comfortable with him. possibly has to do with the island having a very militarized colonial history. Fidel terrorized an SL attack containing mahela, sanath, hashan tilekaratne and sanga on debut.....in a series we probably would have lost had it not been for his contribution. ordinary bowlers don't do that.

As I have been writing from the time he was selected, he is a net bowler.
A friendly pick.

You need to stop mistaking Fidel for Tino.

Small in stature but still continues to bowl faster than many of the young fast bowlers
in the WI. I would say injuries played a big part in his career.

A man with 12 5wicket hauls in 55 matches is a "net bowler"

Think him and Jerome Taylor had a good little run before their bodies gave in to the rigors
of fast bowling.

Tino earned his selection, Fidel was a friendly selection.
How many players you know make any international sports team, from providing practice sections to players?
As far as Tino is concern, I first knew his family connection from my third eldest sister, his great grandmother was the midwife to all of my mother eight children, my first three sisters are Carlyse Best , Louie and Dennis Tull first cousin.
So I know who Tino is.
BTW, there is a vast difference with the selection of Philo Wallace by Vivian Richards and the selection of Fidel Edwards by Brian Lara..
As Viv reminded Philo a few weeks ago on the Mason show, the ton he scored a ARG was all he wanted to see, how many balls had Fidel bowled and which 1st division team was he playing for, before selection?

Not even professional scouts recommend anyone, the way Fidel was selected.
Lara had his close clique, they are all still close friends.

You have two men one known one unknown The known got promoted in his organization but did not performed.
The other was introduced to the boss and vouched for by a friend. He then significantly outperform the promoted one
in the same position. What is the problem bro? Didn't 20yr old Samuels replaced the highly gifted but struggling Sars in
Oz in 2000 and performed better than Sars was doing on that tour? Let us think, think, think before posting.

Velo stop confusing ODI with tests. When was the last time Shai played FC cricket in The WI? Is that a criterion for being
selected to the test team? He should play, perform and get picked. I say they're still chinks in his test batting armor but they can be ironed out.

The performing fast bowler did was not selected, and quit the sport.
Tino Best was far away from being look at, at the time.

Hoss……you are the person arguing that Tino deserved a pick more than Fidel. Tino got his pick in the third test of the 2003 Fran Worrell trophy and was found to be totally unsuited for international cricket at that time. His action was all over the place and Hayden and gilchrist pulverized him. Fidel was clearly ready because he came and decimated an attack almost as good as the Aussie batsmen, the SL. Batsmen only a few weeks later

I have never ever said such thing, I have always considered Tino to be fast and wayward.
As you can see from the scorecard, Tino was playing for Bim and taking wickets.
The player that did not get the opportunity and quite the sport was Jason Bennett.

Tino got his chance and proved to be not ready for international cricket. If he had a poor attitude he’d have been kicked out permanently because he looked awful during that first test versus the aussies. Fidel got a chance because Lara faced him in the nets and was very impressed by what he saw. It’s similar to Waqar Younis who had only played 6 fc matches before Imran spotted him.not that Fidel would become a Waqar. That was up to him and the whims of his territorial board and the WICB. But Lara saw talent. And ordinary bowlers do not dismiss Sanath, Sanga and Mabela on debut. I am positive there were dudes doing better than whispering death in FC cricket who weren’t as talented and therefore didn’t get pick when Mikey got picked. Sometimes players have a hunch and they go with that hunch

Not picking a dude because he had to earn his stripes is the same dotishness that kept Lara out of the team while keeping inferiors like Keith athurton around
