This is a heartwarming story of cricket. This ought to be the kind of story that one should wake up to and not the slaughter in Gaza by Israeli forces.

Thanks. Wonderful read indeed. Yet some feel that countries i n the Caribbean which have playing for well over a century cannot make
it on their own.
Baldersdash. Takes planning, resources ,grogrammes and commitment among other things to achieve .
A country that has been playing for less than 20 Years and have a women's tam too that is doing ok ?
Remarkable.

Tired of this message board bellyaching about WI and past glories; the corrupt BCCI or the Aussies always winning. For a change it was nice to read such a heartwarming story of Cricket in Rwanda.

This actually started a while back. Brian Lara was the guest of honor at a dinner the Rwanda cricket association had at Lords in 2012. He then raised 50,000 pounds, the equivalent of 44,000000 Rwandan dollars in a charity match a few days later

Beautiful story with a certain moral- ICC ain' wut (worth) Cow Dung. They can barely develop cricket in countries that know the game.
Yet refugee communities from two countries return home from cricket playing nations and are having international successes beyond imagination.
Afghanistan and now Rwanda.

i’m glad you concur gentlemen yes, indeed a wonderful tale of cricket. I was moved when they talked about having to turn their faces when they were batting because the pitch was so horrible the balls were hitting them in their mouth and breaking their teeth.
Similar story with Afghanistan, and look where they are today and what they did in the recent World Cup. I wish Rwanda the same.

Man I've been saying this for YEARS. Cricket is the only sport that is receding. I mean the bcci gets irritating with their entitlement, but if we are being honest, the indian market is almost entirely propping up a faltering sport.

You are correct. The BCCI annoys the living hell out of me, but in that respect they are propping up the game.

telling yuh. look at rugby. 25 years ago, the rugby world cup was a foregone conclusion. either the boks, the all blacks and to a lesser extent england and australia were going to be the champions. This year, none of those sides came in as favorites. Ireland and France were everyone's favorites with both beating the boks and nz in the first round. Cricket has gone in the oppoite direction. 1996 Sri Lanka were world cup champs, 2003 kenya made the semis, beating sri lanka on the way. england were nowhere on the radar for all of the latter half of the 90s and were rubbish in 2003 and 2007. the sport has inverted where now sri lanka has declined alarmingly, kenyan cricket is extinct(WI heading down that same road) and people only tolerate bangladesh because they have a big market.
