Maybe, just maybe, this is his time to be reintroduced to test cricket. Maybe just maybe, he now knows his game better that he did a few years ago and his skill level, fitness and confidence are up. Maybe just maybe that is the same for another player who the selectors considered to be too old for this squad. Maybe just maybe, people should not always been limited by their past statistics especially when these are not of the recent past.

He did well enough in our substandard CPL, i.e. better than most of the established T20 players in WI squad, to be considered for T20 internationals for the West Indies. He and Pooran are simply miles ahead of any other batsman in the West Indies at the current period

i always thought that Hope should bat at 4 in test cricket. His main weakness is short pitched bowling

Maybe he cant bat short pitch bowling
Maybe he struggles to field placing to match that SP bowling
Maybe he doesn't have the skill to rotate strike within test cricket especially when facing hostile bowling

The Shai Hope I see here is a vastly improved one. I'd like for him to be given a go in Tests.
Granted that CPL is a limited overs format but he looked very much at ease there. This match as well
